2018 Biannual Bibliothon Day 6: Reading Update!

I know for a fact that what I will be taking away from this readathon, is my newfound love for audiobooks. Especially ones of books I have read previously, thus making it easier to follow the story. Throughout this readathon I have listened to a current total of just over 2 audiobooks, and enjoyed them both! Audiobooks are great for readathons because there is so much time during the day where you can’t physically read a book, but a lot of those times you can spend listing to a book instead.

Anyways, now for what I read today. This is quite random, but I decided to listen to the audiobook for Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Battle of the Labyrinth by Rick Riordan, the 4th book in the Percy Jackson series. So far I am 4 hours and 30 minutes into it (163 pages) into it, and just decided to start listening to it because I enjoyed the books so much, that I was sure the audiobook would be another amazing experience. So far I am really enjoying it, but no surprise there. I also started London Belongs to Me by Jacquelyn Middleton, and I am liking it so far. The writing is a little weak in my opinion, but I am having fun following the main character as she follows her dreams in London. I am only on page 43 but I’m just so exhausted that I can’t bring myself to read anymore. Hopefully I will be able to power through it tomorrow since it is under 400 pages!

January 2018 TBR!

This is my first TBR of the new year and I am so excited! 2017 was kind of a reading bust because I only read 40-or-so books, but I am determined to read a lot more this coming year. Because of that…my TBR is kind of ambitious but I know I can do it!

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets + Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban by JK Rowling 

Currently I am re reading Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone and am obviously loving it, as it is getting me in the holiday spirit. Obviously I cannot just start one and not continue on with the whole series, so I plan on giving the entire series a re read! I doubt I need to explain the synopsis of the Harry Potter series, especially since these are the second and third books in the series but yeah, I am really excited to be giving these my annual yearly re read!

Eliza and Her Monsters by Francesca Zappia

Eliza and Her Monsters was a book I read back in July for the BookTubeAThon, and I read it in just a few hours because it was so amazing. It talks about the hardships of being a creative person, as well as being someone who doesn’t fit in well at school and suffers from mental illness. These are really important representations in books because I know for myself, it is very relatable. Eliza and Her Monsters follows Eliza, who is the anonymous creator of the online phenomenon webcomic, Monstrous Sea. It follows Eliza as she meets Wallace, who happens to be Monstrous Sea’s biggest fanfic writer, and she struggles with keeping her true identity a secret as they grow closer together, brought together by their love for this webcomic that she created.

We Were Liars by E. Lockhart

This is a really short book that I heard is amazing, so I have no doubt that once I actually force myself to pick it up, I won’t want to put it down. We Were Liars follows a “perfect” family that spends every summer on private island, however this summer is not the same. Cadence, a fifteen year old girl, has something happen to her during her fifteenth summer, and with the help of others she tries to remember the accident. I really had to pull this synopsis from online, but even then it is still really mysterious…and intriguing so I am excited to (hopefully) pick it up next month!

This Savage Song by V.E Schwab

I really look up to Victoria as a writer. She has fantastic tips and ideas about creativity, and overall she seems like a very genuine person! Not too long ago I purchased This Savage Song, because it got, and still is getting, wonderful reviews so I really would like to get to it in the New Year. This Savage Song follows August and Kate, two who are on opposite sides of their divided city which are at war. All August wants is to be human, and he could if he steals a soul with music. When Kate gets kicked out of yet another boarding school, a chance arises and he jumps at it, only to be faced with a change of direction and suddenly him and Kate are on the run.

Tips for New Book Bloggers!

I am always figuring out new things about blogging, but I thought I would share some of the things I have learned in the past year and a half.

  •  Write what you want because this is your blog and you get to write what you want. Don’t worry if people don’t like the content on your blog, because at the end of the day, as long as you are producing content you want it’s all okay. This goes for more than just blogging too!
  • Add pictures and videos! Pictures and videos that have to do with what you are talking about just add to your blog post and make them much more fun and interesting.
  • Remember that it doesn’t matter how many people follow your blog, or like your blog post, it only matters if you like what you produce. Of course it is always lovely when someone likes your blog post, follows your blog, or takes the time to write you a comment, but if you create a blog post just for the publicity of it, then you are not doing it for the right reasons.
  • Produce lots of content. People like to follow and read blogs that produce lots of content weekly, rather than a blog that posts once or twice a month. It is understandable if you don’t have the time to write a few blog posts a week, but at least strive for one or two lengthy blog posts a week!
  • Proofread and edit your blog posts, because nobody wants to read a blog post that they have to decode because of the huge amount of grammar and spelling errors you made. It only takes an extra minute or two and it makes your blog posts look 100% better!
