Books That Frustrate Me!

There are a LOT of books out there that annoy me and get on my nerves so I decided why not make a blog post of it and share with you all those books?

73a98b48-41cc-43d2-baf6-89c696bc86f8img400The Heir by Kiera Cass – When I think of books that get on my nerves, this is the first book that comes to mind. If you didn’t know, The Heir is a continuation of the Selection series and in my opinion, is a continuation that was not needed. The first three books in the Selection series were great, but they had to ruin it with this book! The Heir is a sequel that takes place 20ish years after the events of The One, and follows America and Maxon’s daughter Eadlyn who is of age and has to hold a selection to find “the one”. I enjoyed seeing America and Maxon again, but there daughter, Eadlyn is such a hard character to like! She is whiny, inconsiderate and incredibly selfish, and is in no way a relatable character. I honestly felt this book was unnecessary and I am sure there are a lot of people out there who agree!

Lady Midnight by Cassandra Clare – I absolutely adored Lady Midnight, lady-midnight-by-cassandra-clarebut overall it did have some very frustrating moments! Lady Midnight follows two shadowhunters named Emma and Julian who live in a world of demons, magic and fighting. Our main characters are the frustrating part and I don’t want to spoil anything for people who haven’t read this book, but if you have you know what I am talking about!

fangirl_coverdec2012Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell – Again I love Fangirl but our main character is such a stubborn character sometimes that it irritates me. Fangirl follows a girl named Cath who is attending her first year of college with her twin sister, Wren, and while Wren wants to be independent and have fun, Cath is much more shy and reluctant. I do love this book, don’t get me wrong, but sometimes I wanted to scream at Cath to take a risk for once, or just leave her dorm room instead of moping around and letting life pass her!

Prodigy_Marie_Lu_BookProdigy by Marie Lu – I really enjoyed Prodigy but the relationship between our main characters is something I don’t always enjoy. The first book in this trilogy, Legend, follows a teenage criminal named Day and a soldier named June who become an unlikely team as they band together for revenge. I am honestly not a huge fan of June because in my opinion, she is quite a hard person to like and see through her suit of rock hard iron, so I did have some moments were I gritted my teeth during specific scenes.

Those were some books that frustrate me and I hope you enjoyed. Don’t forget to comment some books you find frustrating and also check out my last blog post: February 2017 Wrap Up!

Series to Binge Read

We all love those series that you can just sit down, read, finish the book, and then continue on with the series without getting up…well obviously you get up at some point but you don’t want to. For this post, I will be telling you guys some series that you will start and not want to stop.

Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead – I am currently reading this series and I am loving it! I am on the third book and I never want to put them down. It is about two girls, Rose Hathaway who is a dhampir (protects vampires) and Lisa Dragomir who is a royal Moroi (vampire) and their life at St. Vladamir’s. The books follow them as they face enemies while trying to maintain a decent image. This is a good series to binge read because there are six books in total, Vampire Academy, Frostbite, Shadow Kiss, Blood Promise, Spirit Bound and Last Sacrifice. Go! Read them!

Percy Jackson and the Olympians by Rick Riordan – This series is such a fun and easy series to binge read so if you haven’t read these please go now and read them! These books are about a boy named Percy Jackson who discovers he is the son of a Greek god and how he has to learn to live with that because that isn’t a small feat. There are five books in the series and I love all of them. The Lightning Thief, Sea of Monsters, Titan’s Curse, Battle of the Labyrinth and Last Olympian. A totally easy binge read!

The Selection Series by Kiera Cass – There are now 5 books in this series (The Selection, The Elite, The One, The Heir, The Crown) and they are just so easy to read. I read the first 3 books in one sitting because I was absolutely hooked. I really recommend this as a binge reading series.

Lux Series by Jennifer L Armentrout – Again, there are five books in this series (Obsidian, Onyx, Opal, Origin and Opposition) and they are really interesting! My favourite is probably the first book but all the books are very good. Please read this series if you haven’t yet!

May Wrap Up

May is already almost over and for me it was a pretty decent reading month. I read a totally of 5 books and each of them were a very enjoyable read! Comment below the books you read this month because I would love to know 🙂

Unravel Me by Tahereh Mafi is the second book in the Shatter Me trilogy so I will not go into to much detail because of spoilers. Basically, this trilogy is about a girl named Juliette who possesses the power to kill anyone by her touch, and after being locked up for a few years she is released to become a weapon. I really liked this book and the whole series is just fantastic so I definitely recommend it! 5/5 stars

The Hidden Oracle by Rick Riordan is the second book I finished this month and it is the first book in Rick Riordan’s new series based around Apollo. This book is about the god Apollo who is cast down to Earth after angering his father…the twist is he is mortal. Now, with no godly abilities, Apollo is forced to face enemies he has made and learn to adapt with his new body. I found this book very funny and easy to read like Rick Riordan’s books, and while it wasn’t amazing or anything I am still excited to continue on with the series! 4/5 stars

Ignite Me by Tahereh Mafi is the last book in the Shatter Me trilogy and can I just say this book was as amazing as the others. I described the main idea of this trilogy already so I will just give a brief opinion. I thought this book was a great conclusion and I loved how things ended up. I wished their was more and more but all good things must come to an end. Please read this series if you haven’t because of all the epic feels and Warner…ah Warner. 5/5 stars

Frostbite by Richelle Mead is the second book in the Vampire Academy which I am currently getting through and I am so excited to be continuing on with this series! It is so easy and fun to read that I find myself finishing them quickly. They are about these two girls, Rose who is a dhampir (protects vampires) and Lisa who is a vampire, who attend St. Vladamir’s which is a school for vampires. The books follow their journey at school and as they face their enemies. I totally recommend this series! 4/5 stars

The Heir by Kiera Cass is the fourth book in the Selection series but also the first book that follows Eadyln’s point of view. This was a reread since the Crown came out recently and I am glad I reread it because I definitely enjoyed it more this time. I still found Eadlyn stuck up and annoying but for some reason I liked the book better. 4/5 stars

Reading Update

So I decided to do a reading update just because I love what I am reading right now! I am currently reading Ignite Me by Tahereh Mafi which is the final book in the Shatter Me trilogy which is AMAZING! If you like dystopian than I highly recommend this to you. I am really sad to be almost done the series but I just want to know how things play out soooo badly that I am zipping through the book. I am also reading The Heir by Kiera Cass because the Crown just came out and I want to refresh my memory of Eadlyn’s selection before I jump into the final book. I have a feeling I know how it is going to play out and I hope it does end up the way I think but kind of not at the same time…does that make sense?

Anyways, I am sure some of you are wondering how I can read 2 books at the same time and I actually don’t know. I have read up to 4 books at once one time and it wasn’t hard or anything. For some reason I remembered where I was in each story and I didn’t get anything confused. Even though I can read multiple books at the same time (not literally at the same time) I prefer to read only one at a time.
