Favourite Books of 2016!

I don’t plan on reading many new books this December, so I thought I ought to share my favourites from this year! In this blog post I will be listing my top 9 favourites from this year and then lastly my all time favourite book from this year so I hope you enjoy! (P.S. The top 9 are in no particular order!)

10. Winter by Marissa Meyer. This was the first book I completed in 2o16 and I thought it was such a satisfying and epic conclusion to the amazing Lunar Chronicles series. I am a huge fan of this series and while in my opinion, it started off slow, it definitely ended with a bang! I am so happy with this book and it just had to make my list.

9. Obsidian by Jennifer L Armentrout. I absolutely adore this book which is the first book in the Lux series. It is so fun and entertaining to read and it also has a really awesome cast of characters that I love to follow so much!

8. Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky – Oh my gosh I am obsessed with this story! I watched the movie numerous times before I finally picked up this short book but I am so glad I finally did because it met all the expectations that the movie set up for me. I cannot wait to purchase my own copy of this book because it follows such an interesting and important storyline and overall is a fantastic novel.

7. Shadow Kiss by Richelle Mead. This is the 3rd book in the Vampire Academy series and it is my favourite out of the entire series, with Spirit Bound right behind it. I love Vampire Academy and I thought the books were all so amazing but when I read Shadow Kiss I was fangirling and just devouring the whole thing.

6. Me Before You by JoJo Moyes. Everyone was raving about this book because the movie was coming out so I decided to pick it up and read it before I read the book…let me tell you it was not a let down! I finished this book in 2 days and I would not have put it down for even a second if I got the chance. I don’t read to many adult books but this book is definitely the way to go.

5.A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J Maas. This book came to a very close tie with my all time favourite book of 2016 because this book is just so damn good! I started reading it in 2015 but put it down because I just wasn’t that into it, but then this past summer I picked it up again and could not stop reading it! It is a very loose retelling of Beauty and the Beast and was just everything a book needed to be to be perfect.

4. Ruby Red by Kerstin Gier. This trilogy is a lot of fun and very intriguing. I picked this up at my library just because I have heard about it a few times so I thought why not? Besides, before reading this I hadn’t read too many time travel books but when I read this book, it made me ONLY want to read time travel books…it was just so freaking good and I love this entire trilogy so much!

3. To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before by Jenny Han.  I have raved about this book plenty of times on my blog but I just can’t stop. I love to read contemporary but this book made me love the genre even more. It is everything you want in a good contemporary book…it has an adorable romance, a quirky main character, and many, many relatable scenes. I cannot wait for the final book in this trilogy because they are so flipping amazing!

2. I’ll Give You the Sun by Jandy Nelson. Unlike many other contemporaries I didn’t devour this book in one sitting. I wanted to always put this book down because I wanted to extend the story for as long as possible which just shows how amazing it was. I loved the 2 main characters and watching them get through a very dark time in their lives was very raw and real and just made the story 100% better.

1. Lady Midnight by Cassandra Clare!!! This fantastic book was my all time favourite book of 2016, and let me tell you why. I am a massive Mortal Instruments fan but even I didn’t expect to love this book so much. It was all I expected and more and I am ecstatic for the new book coming out this coming May!

Those were my top 10 favourite books of 2016 and I hope you enjoyed!

Favourite Books of 2016! (So far)

2016 is already half over…what?! Since this seems to be the case I decided to share with you guys my top 5 favourite books that I have read so far in 2016. I hope you like this blog post and make sure you comment below your favourite book of 2016 so far! (These are not in order by the way! But Lady Midnight is my favourite of them…:) )

  1. Lady Midnight by Cassandra Clare is probably my favourite book ever, or at least close to. This was a truly fantastic read and I loved everything about it! If you want to read this, which I recommend you do, make sure you read her Mortal Instruments series and Infernal Devices trilogy otherwise you won’t be able to understand it which would be bad…
  2. Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi is another book that I read this year and absolutely fell in love with. It was really hard picking which book I liked the best and I realized I liked all her books equally so I decided to write down the first book in the series as my favourite. I really love this book just because we are introduced to the world and the characters and I feel like Tahereh Mafi did such a fabulous job of doing that.
  3. Shadow Kiss by Richelle Mead is the third book in the Vampire Academy and is so far my favourite of the series. For me it was a bit slow in the middle but I still wanted to keep reading and I just flew through the last 200 pages like they were nothing. I really, really enjoyed this book and just had to put it on my list.
  4. Me Before You by JoJo Moyes is the book I am currently reading at the moment but I just love it. I am 200 pages in and absolutely obsessed with it. If you haven’t read this book I highly advise you do because you won’t want it to end.
  5. Obsidian by Jennifer L Armentrout is the first book to the Lux series. This is definitely my favourite of the 5 books in her series because everything was light hearted and fun and I feel like the books drastically became more serious. I read this book in one sitting because I could not put it down and then when I finished I started it all over again. It was amazing!

Those are my top 5 favourite books of the year so far and I hope you liked it!

Reading Update

Hey guys so I decided to update you on my reading progress because since I posted my May Wrap Up I have finished 2 more books…so that means I read 7 this month. Reading 7 books in 1 month is pretty crazy for me because I am usually not the fastest reader but I just read so many amazing books that I would fly though one, pick up another and fly through that one as well. The 2 other books I finished in the last few days were:

Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky which was a fantastic read and I am so happy I decided to pick it up when I saw it at my library. Yes it was depressing but it was also somewhat funny and incredibly entertaining. I read this in 2 days because it was only 200ish pages and I couldn’t put it down. 5/5 stars, please read this!

Shadow Kiss by Richelle Mead which is the third book in her Vampire Academy series. I enjoyed this book a lot more than the first 2 and I just found myself always wanting to read it. So much happened that made me squeal and gasp and laugh and it was such an amazing read. 4.8/5 stars!

Now I am currently reading Blood Promise by Richelle Mead which is the fourth book in her series and also The Crown by Kiera Cass which is the fifth and final book in her Selection series.

That was my short reading update and I hope you liked it 🙂

June TBR!

I cannot wait for June because it means the end of school and more reading time! I don’t have that hard of exams this year so I am still hoping to read a good amount of books by the end of this month. My reading challenge is to at least read 50 books this year and by the end of June I should have read 25 and I am 22 so I think I can make it! Anyways here is my June TBR!

Shadow Kiss by Richelle Mead is the first book I am hoping to finish in June because it is my current read. I am about halfway done and I am really, really liking it. The first 2 books in this series were a tiny bit slow for me but the story is really picking up the pace in the third one and I am very happy about that! If you want a more detailed summary of this series you can check out my last post: Series to Binge Read, because I talk about it in there.

A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J Maas is a book I really want to finish this month because it has been on my shelf forever. I am not the biggest high fantasy lover but I do love Sarah J Maas’s Throne of Glass series so I am hoping to love this equally as much!

Saint Anything by Sarah Dessen is another book I have had forever and since it is a contemporary novel it will throw me into a more summery mood hopefully. This book has good reviews on goodreads too so that motivates me to finally pick it up!

Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo is the last book I want to get to by the end of June. I recently bought this book because I have only heard fantastic things so I really want to jump on the bandwagon and love this book as much as every other person on this planet.

Series to Binge Read

We all love those series that you can just sit down, read, finish the book, and then continue on with the series without getting up…well obviously you get up at some point but you don’t want to. For this post, I will be telling you guys some series that you will start and not want to stop.

Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead – I am currently reading this series and I am loving it! I am on the third book and I never want to put them down. It is about two girls, Rose Hathaway who is a dhampir (protects vampires) and Lisa Dragomir who is a royal Moroi (vampire) and their life at St. Vladamir’s. The books follow them as they face enemies while trying to maintain a decent image. This is a good series to binge read because there are six books in total, Vampire Academy, Frostbite, Shadow Kiss, Blood Promise, Spirit Bound and Last Sacrifice. Go! Read them!

Percy Jackson and the Olympians by Rick Riordan – This series is such a fun and easy series to binge read so if you haven’t read these please go now and read them! These books are about a boy named Percy Jackson who discovers he is the son of a Greek god and how he has to learn to live with that because that isn’t a small feat. There are five books in the series and I love all of them. The Lightning Thief, Sea of Monsters, Titan’s Curse, Battle of the Labyrinth and Last Olympian. A totally easy binge read!

The Selection Series by Kiera Cass – There are now 5 books in this series (The Selection, The Elite, The One, The Heir, The Crown) and they are just so easy to read. I read the first 3 books in one sitting because I was absolutely hooked. I really recommend this as a binge reading series.

Lux Series by Jennifer L Armentrout – Again, there are five books in this series (Obsidian, Onyx, Opal, Origin and Opposition) and they are really interesting! My favourite is probably the first book but all the books are very good. Please read this series if you haven’t yet!

Book Haul!!! (May 2016)

I just recently was on a short “vacation” because I had a few extra days off school and obviously over those few days I accumulated some books. Luckily not an over alarming amount but just three books which I think is a pretty good amount. Please comment any books you recently got or are going to get soon! Oh and it would mean a lot of you checked out my last post How To: Write a Novel and comment if you want more blog posts like that!

Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo is the first book in her newest series. I have seen this everywhere on YouTube and it has gotten so many amazing reviews that I was dying to buy it for myself and now I have and I am so excited to read it! I am not really sure what it is about but I know I will love it.

Shadow Kiss by Richelle Mead which is the third book in the Vampire Academy series. I recently finished the second one so I got the third one to continue on because I am really enjoying the series! I like how easy it is to read and I am excited to see what happens next.

Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi is the final book I purchased and is the first book in the Shatter Me trilogy which is absolutely amazing. I also recently read all three of these books but I borrowed them from the library so I finally got myself a copy of the first book and I am so excited to have it. Hopefully soon I will be getting the rest of the trilogy…once I get some money again.

Thanks for reading my book haul, I hope you liked it!

May TBR!

There are 6 more days April so I decided to share with you guys all the great books I have planned to read in May!

Shadow Kiss by Richelle Mead is the third book in the Vampire Academy series that I am currently reading. I am starting the second one today so hopefully and most likely, I will be getting to the third one soon! I am really liking the series so far just because it is really easy and fun to read!

Unravel Me by Tahereh Mafi is the second book in the Shatter Me trilogy which I am also reading at the moment. Shatter Me was such an amazing first book and every page had me absolutely captivated. The characters are super detailed and real and every single word on every single page sounds like poetry. It’s so amazing and you neeeed to read this trilogy!

Demigod Diaries by Rick Riordan is a short story about some of the characters from the Percy Jackson world which I love. I have read this before so this is just a re read so I can add some more books on my ‘Books read in 2016’ list. I mainly read this book during my English class when I have like 20 minutes to silent read and I am really enjoying re reading this!

Glass Sword by Victoria Aveyard is the last book on my TBR and is also the second book in the Red Queen series (or trilogy, I don’t know). The first book, Red Queen, has a lot of mixed reviews but I was one of the people who really enjoyed it. I found it super easy to read, the characters were easy to like and overall I thought it was a great story. It may not be the most original story out there but that doesn’t mean I don’t like and I can only hope the second book is even better!

That is my TBR and I hope you liked it! (Leave a comment on another post you would like me to do)
