March 2017 Wrap Up!

March was a good reading month which was great, because I plan on reading a lot of books this year. Anyways, here are the books I managed to read this month!

p-s-i-still-love-you-jenny-han-coverP.S. I Still Love You by Jenny Han – Since the new and final book is coming out in May, I decided I should re read the first two books in preparation, but also because I just love this series. The first book, To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before, follows sixteen year old Lara Jean, who’s secret love letters have been sent out to all the boys she has loved before, and she finds herself digging a hole of lies to prevent her current crush from knowing the truth. This is a very quirky and relatable book that you can’t help but enjoy! 5/5 stars

Lola-and-the-Boy-Next-Door_PBLola and the Boy Next Door by Stephanie Perkins – I had no real reason to re read this book other than the fact that I just wanted to. Lola and the Boy Next Door is about an expressive and unique girl named Lola who has a great life. She loves her parents, has a great best friend, a great boyfriend and is in her final year of high school, but when her first love who crushed her heart moves back next door, things get flipped upside down. This is such a feel-good book that leaves you all warm and fuzzy, and I definitely recommend it if you are in search for a good contemporary! 5/5 stars

before-i-fall1Before I Fall by Lauren Oliver – Since the movie came out this month, I thought it would be a good idea to go read the book before I watched the movie so I did and I really enjoyed it! Before I Fall is about a girl named Sam who has it all. She is popular, has a great group of friends named Lindsay, Elody and Ally, and is dating one of the most popular guys in school. But when her and her friends are driving back from a party one night, they get into and accident and Sam suddenly finds herself reliving that day over and over again. I thought this book really made you think about and cherish the life you have, and while it had a lot of darker and more serious elements, it was also filled with light and fluffy moments that I really appreciated. 3/5 stars

ruby-red-trilogy-by-kerstin-gierRuby Red, Sapphire Blue and Emerald Green by Kerstin Gier – I always forget how much I really do love the Ruby Red trilogy until I read it, and I am so happy that I decided to pick it up again. Ruby Red follows a girl named Gwenyth who comes from a family of time travellers, but it is believed that the time travelling gene has skipped her, and instead possessed by her cousin, Charlotte. But when Gwen is thrust back in time, completely unprepared, she finds herself living the life her cousin was meant to but not necessarily the life she wanted to. I really recommend this if you want an easy, fun book with a great romance in it! 4.5/5 stars for all three

Those are all the books I managed to read in the month of March and I hope you enjoyed. Don’t forget to check out my last blog post: Reading/Writing Update!

Reading/Writing Update!

I have had a pretty good reading and writing week. I managed to complete both Ruby Red and Sapphire Blue by Kerstin Gier, and am on the third and final book, Emerald Green. This trilogy follows a girl named Gwenyth who is born into a family of time travelers, but her cousin Charlotte is the one they believe inherited the gene. When Gwen is suddenly thrust into the past, completely unprepared, her life is flipped upside down. Not only can she travel back in time, but now she also has an arrogant but handsome partner named Gideon. I love, love, love this trilogy and everyone should have the privilege of reading it! These books are also all movies, but since the books are originally in German, I watched the first movie dubbed. The movies for Sapphire Blue and Emerald Green are pretty much impossible to find if you live in North America, but I am just happy I was able to watch the first one because it was great!

I finally finished editing my short story for this local contest I wanted to enter, and have now submitted it! I haven’t had motivation to enter a writing contest for a while now, so it feels really good to be getting back to my normal writing self. I have a few other contests I plan to enter, plus I am going to be attempting Camp NaNoWriMo with my goal of 17000 words, so there will be lots more writing in the future!

That is all for my writing and reading update and I hope you enjoyed!

September 2016 Wrap Up

I cannot believe September is already coming to an end! I think it was a pretty good reading month for me, compared to last month, and I am happy with all the books I read so here they are!

Ruby Red by Kerstin Gier – This is the first book in the Ruby Red trilogy which is fantastic by the way. It follows Gwen, a girl born into a family of time travellers but is believed to not possess the gene. That is, until she is thrown back in time and is now forced to pursue time traveling along with her stunningly attractive male partner, Gideon. I absolutely adored this book and it has a unique idea compared to some of the other books I have read! 4.5/5 stars

Sapphire Blue by Kerstin Gier – I just had to pick up the second book as soon as possible in the Ruby Red trilogy, and despite it being a middle book, I wasn’t disappointed at all. I loved how the story was still interesting and had me wanting to just keep reading and reading and reading. 4.5/5 stars

Emerald Green by Kerstin Gier – This is the final book to the Ruby Red trilogy and I just thought it was so good! Everything panned out how I wanted and a few things definitely surprised me. I was getting a bit frustrated with some of the relationships (in a good way) but everything worked its way out somewhat neatly and I just adored it so much, along with the whole trilogy. 4.5/5 stars

Just One Day by Gayle Forman – After reading the amazing Ruby Red trilogy, I began falling into a terrible reading slump. On a whim though, I picked this book up and just loved it. The plot line and characters were so much fun that I just sat down and read for hours. Towards the end of the middle I felt like the story was loosing some of its energy but it definitely had me wanting to pick up the next one, Just One Year. 4/5 stars

Sadly I didn’t finish the 3rd Harry Potter book this month because I got caught up with the Ruby Red trilogy, but I am reading it right now and plan on finishing it by the end of the weekend so I’m keeping my fingers crossed because I need to get the 4th one read too! Anyways, I hope you enjoyed this post and I will see you in my next one 🙂

Weekend Reading Plan

So sorry for be off this week but I should be back now. School had just started for me and it’s been kind of hectic getting back into  a routine but I think anyone can agree with that. Anyways, here is my weekend reading plan because I am very excited to get to these books!

I am very slowly making my way through A Court of Mist and Fury, not because its boring but because so much is happening that I don’t want to miss anything. I don’t even know how it cold be boring or plain because it is most definitely one of my favourite series. There is over 600 pages and I am on page 300 so I am halfway through and I am very excited to see what happens within the next 300 pages…My goal is to get around another 100 pages read this weekend and fingers crossed that that will happen! Another book I plan on reading is Sapphire Blue by Kerstin Gier, the second book in the Ruby Red trilogy. I read Ruby Red at the very very beginning of September and have been dying to get my hands on the second book and finally it is in my clutches! I also want to get to at least 100 pages through this book, hopefully more, because it is a really fast paced and fun read. One reason I plan on getting a lot of reading done this month is because I am getting sick so I have an excuse to lounge around all day with a book in my lap! Cannot wait to get reading 🙂

Reading Update!!!

School has recently started for me so I’ve been a bit busy but I am trying to read as much as I possibly can. Mostly because my current read, A Court of Mist and Fury, is pretty big and its amazing so I really want to finish it. I am also hoping to finish the rest of the Ruby Red trilogy by Kerstin Gier, Sapphire Blue and Emerald Green. I ordered them and I am hoping they come by next week because I would love to continue on with this series as soon as possible! Ruby Red was just really refreshing and it was a nice change to read about time travel. Anyways, that’s all for this reading update and don’t forget to check out my last post 🙂
