Sadly this week hasn’t been as eventful reading wise as July was, but good things come in time right? Anyways, at the moment I am reading City of Fallen Angels by Cassandra Clare which is the fourth book in The Mortal Instruments series. A lot of people say that this is their least favourite book in the series, but I don’t mind it and am hoping that I fly through it and finish it by tomorrow. Once I finish this book, I plan on jumping into The Moon and More by Sarah Dessen which I am excited for because if you saw my July 2017 Wrap Up, I read Once and For All by Sarah Dessen and enjoyed it, so fingers crossed I enjoy this one too!
Writing…ah writing. I was so determined at the beginning of the month, and still am, but things have drastically changed. I am still in love with my idea, but I am not in the right place to write it right now…I am super busy and need to plan a lot more than what I initially did. I plan on outlining my book throughout August and then finally when I finish that, I will rewrite my book.
That is all for my reading/writing update and I hope you enjoyed. Don’t forget to check out my last blog post: Back to School Reads!
Next week is BookTubeAThon, yet I have more books I want to finish reading this week than next week. At the moment, I currently reading “City of Glass” by Cassandra Clare, the third book in The Mortal Instruments series, and I forgot how amazing it is! It has been about two years since I re read this series, but I remember City of Glass being my favourite of the six, and I can see why. I am close to finishing it, I have just over one hundred pages left, and when I finish that I will be reading “Alex and Eliza” by Melissa De La Cruz. I am really excited for this book because it is a YA story about the love between Alexander Hamilton and Eliza Schuyler. I cannot wait to dive into it and see how much I like it! I even have a third book I want to finish by…well, tomorrow, and that is “Eliza and Her Monsters” by Francesca Zappia. I picked this book up yesterday because the synopsis was something I was definitely in the mood for, and now I am just dying to read it! I am hoping to start and finish it tomorrow so wish me luck.
Yesterday I took a break from writing which I really didn’t want to do but had to because I needed to organize some of my thoughts for it. I am at a total of 43,073 words and my goal is to get to 50,000 words by the end of July, which I think I can easily get to. I have a clear vision on where my story is going, it is just the end that was somewhat fuzzy and also whether or not I wanted to write another book to go along with it, or another two, or none at all. Now though, I know how my end will play out and a rough outline for what a sequel could look like, things are a little more organized. I do plan on writing today and tomorrow and the rest of next week and so on (thankfully), and I am looking forward to keep chugging along!

For the next month or so, I will be in the process of packing up my room and moving, but I did pick out quite a few books to keep with me, so that I always have something to read. Those books are City of Ashes, City of Glass and City of Fallen Angels by Cassandra Clare, Once and For All and the Moon and More by Sarah Dessen, The Wrath and the Dawn by Renee Ahdieh, The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater, and Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins. Anyways, but for what I have accomplished reading wise, is that I am now over half way through City of Ashes! Zoe Herdt from the BookTube channel @readbyzoe, is hosting a 24 hour readathon today, which I will be participating in in hopes of at least coming close to finishing this book.
Writing has also been very successful because from Monday to Friday, I have so far written just over 5,000 words, and I am hoping to reach a week goal of 8,000 by the end of the weekend. My story is kind of at a slow bump in the road, so I am going to go back, fix that, figure out where I want the story to go, and then keep on writing! Good luck to any others participating in Camp NaNoWriMo because the month is half over which means we need to start raking in those word counts! I put my word count goal as 30,000, but I am only about 9,000 from completing that so I am sure I will easily complete that. However, I did want to be at 50,000 words for my entire story by the end of July, so that last week of the month will be me writing hard!

I have had the desire to read lately, which is great considering I was in a reading slump for the longest time. I finished re reading City of Bones by Cassandra Clare, and then started two other books, The Moon and More by Sarah Dessen and City of Ashes by Cassandra Clare. I am really excited to jump into both of them and hopefully will finish them within the next week. BookTubeaThon is also happening this month, which if you didn’t know, is a reading event over social media such as YouTube, Twitter and Instagram, where you try to read as many books as possible in the span of a week. This year, the BookTubeaThon will be held from July 24-30, and I am so excited to participate for a second time! Stay tuned for my TBR for that week because that will be coming in about two weeks.
Writing has also been a productive part in my life which is also fantastic. I have been keeping up with my new daily goal of 1,600 words, and am at about 22,000 words already which means I only have 38,000 words until I reach my goal of 60,000 words! By the looks of it, as I am only in the midst of my beginning, I will end up somewhere in the 100,000’s…but yeah, hopefully all of you participating in Camp NaNoWriMo or just doing some writing, are having a good, productive time and I will give more updates throughout the coming week!

I flew through City of Bones by Cassandra Clare, which by the way, was an incredibly fun and entertaining re read, but sadly I am on vacation and forgot to bring another book so…yeah I am starting July bookless. I do want to buy When Dimple Met Rishi by Sandhya Menon, so maybe I will do that tomorrow so I will have something to read! If not, when I get back I plan on reading The Moon and More by Sarah Dessen. I am excited to read a fun, summery contemporary since summer is officially in full swing, and I just know I am going to love it.
As for writing, I have been doing very well and have written 12,000 words for a story I am calling “Project Night”. That is until I figure out an actual title for it. Camp NaNoWriMo also officially begins tomorrow, and my goal is finish another 40,000 words by the end of the month. I am really excited at how deep I am getting into my story, but I am also excited to finish it! 12,000 words down and only 88,000 to go!

I have finally finished Lord of Shadows by Cassandra Clare, and it was absolutely fantastic! It was everything I could have hoped for in this book, but that ending shook me and broke me…but it was still amazing. Since I have finished Lord of Shadows, I got the urge to re read The Mortal Instruments series which is on my summer TBR and its summer so yeah, I am re reading the amazing series! I am also reading Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen which I am also enjoying and am excited to get more into it.
I have been very busy with writing, and for the past nine or so days, I have gotten into the habit of writing 1000+ words a day! I am working on a project I have been wanting to start for a really long time but had only done the planning for it, and now I am finally writing it! Even though I have been writing for a few years, I had always thought of myself as an outliner, but I realize now I am definitely a panster. I like to just write up a detailed three paragraph outline and then list twelve major plot points I want to hit. I also come up with detailed characters and go into depth on my world, but plot wise, I kind of just go for it and that’s what works for me! Question: Are you a outliner or a panster?
That is all for my reading/writing update and I hope you enjoyed!
Yesterday, I finished re reading Saint Anything by Sarah Dessen, and I didn’t realize how much I needed to read that book! I was in desperate need of light hearted, easy contemporary that I could just fly through. School has been a nightmare recently since I only have a few days left, and I needed a contemporary to read rather than a fantasy or sci fi book. I am, however, continuing on with Lord of Shadows by Cassandra Clare. I am loving it so far, I am just no able to find the time to read it for hours upon hours. Anyways, I have about three hundred pages of Lord of Shadows left and I am excited to continue on with it!
For writing, I think I have written ten thousand words or so…not really sure but I have been keeping up with it! I have not written since yesterday, and I don’t plan to today because I am physically and mentally exhausted, but I am hoping to get a thousand or so words written tomorrow!

Currently, I am still making my way through Lord of Shadows, and while I was hoping to be done by now, I am glad that I am taking my time. Lord of Shadows is the sequel to Lady Midnight by Cassandra Clare, which follows a large cast of diverse characters who try to solve the mystery of Emma Carstairs’ parents’ death. As they dive deeper into the case, they realize that their was more to the murder than they thought. Lord of Shadows is pretty epic so far, and I am enjoying reading it immensely.
This past week, I have written a short story three times and can feel myself getting closer and closer to the end product. I have condensed it, and made it cleaner and more exciting so hopefully, it won’t require much more rewriting. I do plan on entering it in some writing contests and I guess we will see how it does!

This week I have been working on reading Lord of Shadows by Cassandra Clare, and I have been loving it! I wish I had more energy and time to read it, but I have had to make due with what time I have. I am almost half way through it, and I have already felt so many feelings, which Cassandra Clare does very well. I have no idea when I am going to be able to finish it, but once I do, I plan on diving into Saint Anything by Sarah Dessen. I love reading this book in the summertime, and since summer is basically here, I am dying to give it a re read!
I actually wrote a story this week, and it was about three thousand words so I was pretty proud of that. It has to do with assassins which is something I have been very into writing lately, and I don’t know what I am going to do with it yet. I do need to do some rewriting and revising desperately, but once that is done I definitely want to get it out there somehow.

As you all probably know, Lord of Shadows by Cassandra Clare came out this past Tuesday. It is the sequel to the fantastic Lady Midnight, which was my favourite book of 2016, so I am obviously devouring the book right now. I am not too far in (about one hundred and fifty pages) but so far I am loving what I am reading. We have introduced some new characters, seen some old characters and overall the storyline is moving at a fast pace. I know I am will not be disappointed with this book and I cannot wait to get deeper into it! Once I finish this book, I plan on continuing The Dark Prophecy by Rick Riordan, and hopefully it won’t take me too long to finish because the end of the school year means there are lots of books I am waiting to dive into.
As for writing, I haven’t really done much. I have kept up with my planning and have been reading some craft books, but I do not feel that my story is ready to be typed up yet. I am hoping I will get to the point where I am ready to write it sometime this summer, but as of right now I have no idea what will happen.
