Reading/Writing Update!

I have finally finished Lord of Shadows by Cassandra Clare, and it was absolutely fantastic! It was everything I could have hoped for in this book, but that ending shook me and broke me…but it was still amazing. Since I have finished Lord of Shadows, I got the urge to re read The Mortal Instruments series which is on my summer TBR and its summer so yeah, I am re reading the amazing series! I am also reading Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen which I am also enjoying and am excited to get more into it.

I have been very busy with writing, and for the past nine or so days, I have gotten into the habit of writing 1000+ words a day! I am working on a project I have been wanting to start for a really long time but had only done the planning for it, and now I am finally writing it! Even though I have been writing for a few years, I had always thought of myself as an outliner, but I realize now I am definitely a panster. I like to just write up a detailed three paragraph outline and then list twelve major plot points I want to hit. I also come up with detailed characters and go into depth on my world, but plot wise, I kind of just go for it and that’s what works for me! Question: Are you a outliner or a panster?

That is all for my reading/writing update and I hope you enjoyed!

Reading/Writing Update!

Yesterday, I finished re reading Saint Anything by Sarah Dessen, and I didn’t realize how much I needed to read that book! I was in desperate need of light hearted, easy contemporary that I could just fly through. School has been a nightmare recently since I only have a few days left, and I needed a contemporary to read rather than a fantasy or sci fi book. I am, however, continuing on with Lord of Shadows by Cassandra Clare. I am loving it so far, I am just no able to find the time to read it for hours upon hours. Anyways, I have about three hundred pages of Lord of Shadows left and I am excited to continue on with it!

For writing, I think I have written ten thousand words or so…not really sure but I have been keeping up with it! I have not written since yesterday, and I don’t plan to today because I am physically and mentally exhausted, but I am hoping to get a thousand or so words written tomorrow!

Reading/Writing Update!

Currently, I am still making my way through Lord of Shadows, and while I was hoping to be done by now, I am glad that I am taking my time. Lord of Shadows is the sequel to Lady Midnight by Cassandra Clare, which follows a large cast of diverse characters who try to solve the mystery of Emma Carstairs’ parents’ death. As they dive deeper into the case, they realize that their was more to the murder than they thought. Lord of Shadows is pretty epic so far, and I am enjoying reading it immensely.

This past week, I have written a short story three times and can feel myself getting closer and closer to the end product. I have condensed it, and made it cleaner and more exciting so hopefully, it won’t require much more rewriting. I do plan on entering it in some writing contests and I guess we will see how it does!

Reading/Writing Update!

This week I have been working on reading Lord of Shadows by Cassandra Clare, and I have been loving it! I wish I had more energy and time to read it, but I have had to make due with what time I have. I am almost half way through it, and I have already felt so many feelings, which Cassandra Clare does very well. I have no idea when I am going to be able to finish it, but once I do, I plan on diving into Saint Anything by Sarah Dessen. I love reading this book in the summertime, and since summer is basically here, I am dying to give it a re read!

I actually wrote a story this week, and it was about three thousand words so I was pretty proud of that. It has to do with assassins which is something I have been very into writing lately, and I don’t know what I am going to do with it yet. I do need to do some rewriting and revising desperately, but once that is done I definitely want to get it out there somehow.

Reading/Writing Update!

As you all probably know, Lord of Shadows by Cassandra Clare came out this past Tuesday. It is the sequel to the fantastic Lady Midnight, which was my favourite book of 2016, so I am obviously devouring the book right now. I am not too far in (about one hundred and fifty pages) but so far I am loving what I am reading. We have introduced some new characters, seen some old characters and overall the storyline is moving at a fast pace. I know I am will not be disappointed with this book and I cannot wait to get deeper into it! Once I finish this book, I plan on continuing The Dark Prophecy by Rick Riordan, and hopefully it won’t take me too long to finish because the end of the school year means there are lots of books I am waiting to dive into.

As for writing, I haven’t really done much. I have kept up with my planning and have been reading some craft books, but I do not feel that my story is ready to be typed up yet. I am hoping I will get to the point where I am ready to write it sometime this summer, but as of right now I have no idea what will happen.

Reading/Writing Update!

May 2nd was the day of a whole bunch of new releases I was anticipating. There was A Court of Wings and Ruin by Sarah J Maas, The Dark Prophecy by Rick Riordan, and Always and Forever, Lara Jean by Jenny Han. I bought Always and Forever, Lara Jean, and finished it in about a day because I could not put it down! It was just as fun and quirky as I hoped, and while I am sad one of my favourite trilogies is over, I loved the finale. Next I plan on reading and finishing both The Unexpected Everything by Morgan Matson, and The Dark Prophecy by Rick Riordan. I am super excited to dive into these books and I have high hopes that I know will be met!

I didn’t do any writing this week, but I have been planning and planning for my story, and slowly I can see it piecing together in front of me. Planning has made me more excited for this project, and I cannot wait to finally be able to write it!

Reading/Writing Update

the-unexpected-everything-9781481404549_hrIt took me forever to finish re reading Lady Midnight by Cassandra Clare this month, because not only have I been pretty busy, but I was also hit by a reading slump. Luckily, I just finished Lady Midnight and I am positive it has finally brought me out of my reading slump! It also made me very excited for Lord of Shadows, the sequel to Lady Midnight, even more than I already was. Since I have finished, next I am going to pick up The Unexpected Everything by Morgan Matson. I am always in the contemporary mood so I am super pumped to finally read this newer Morgan Matson book, and I am sure I will love it!

As for a writing update, I have written about six thousand words for my story. I only have until…tomorrow to finish my Camp NaNoWriMo story, but I think I can do it…yeah!

Reading/Writing Update!

lady-midnight-by-cassandra-clareAs I have mentioned, I am re reading Lady Midnight by Cassandra Clare, in preparation of Lord of Shadows which comes out in May! Lady Midnight is a pretty large book (being about 668 pages), but I am over half way done and am loving it just as much as the first time. Lady Midnight takes place in Los Angeles, and follows Emma Carstiars, a Shadowhunter who is searching for the answer to her parents mysterious death years ago with the help of her best friend, Julian, and his family. Cassandra Clare’s books never disappoint me, so I am extremely excited to get my hands on her newest book soon! I am guessing I will probably finish Lady Midnight, hopefully, sometime next week, and when I do I plan on reading the Unexpected Everything by Morgan Matson. I bought this a book a few weeks ago, and I love Morgan Matson books so I am ready to dive right into it.the-unexpected-everything-9781481404549_hr

For writing, I have written about three thousand words for Camp NaNoWriMo, because I am finally participating in it after three weeks. My goal is only ten thousand words, so I have my fingers crossed that I can achieve in nine days…

Reading/Writing Update!

It has been a slady-midnight-by-cassandra-clarelow reading week but I did manage to finish Emerald Green by Kerstin Gier which as expected, was amazing. Now since I am done, I thought I should get started on re reading Lady Midnight by Cassandra Clare because not only was I in the mood for it, but I also realized the sequel, Lord of Shadows, is coming out in just over a month! I am so excited for Lord of Shadows because Lady Midnight was a piece of perfection. Since school is really busy (as always it seems), it will probably take me a while to finish Lady Midnight but that’s okay because I am done trying to force myself to read fast when I am tired or just not feeling it. I have to keep reminding myself that I read because I love it and its fun, it shouldn’t feel like a chore.

Okay, I haven’t done any writing for a while…but I do plan on finally writing for Camp NaNoWriMo this weekend. Hopefully I will get somewhere between 2000-3000 words completed but I don’t know how my weekend will play out. I am really excited about this story though because it has to do with Greek mythology and I am a huge fan so it should be fun!

Reading/Writing Update!

StargirlIt has been a slowish week for reading but I did manage to get Emerald Green done. I am really sad I am done re reading the amazing Ruby Red trilogy by Kerstin Gier, but I am also excited to start a new book. I am thinking of kicking off April with Stargirl by Jerry Spinelli because it is the exact kind of book I am looking for right now. I have only read one Jerry Spinelli book called Maniac Magee, and I didn’t love it but I did enjoy it. I probably would have liked it a lot more if it wasn’t assigned for my English class but nonetheless, I still want to pick up another one of his books. Stargirl is about this strange, new girl named Stargirl, who despite her weirdness and her pet rat, captures our main character, Leo’s, heart. The students at school turn on Stargirl because she is different, and even Leo wants her to become the very thing that would destroy her: normal. I am really excited to read this book because it is about first love and staying true to who you are!

It is the first day of NaNoWriMo!!! I haven’t written anything yet, but I will tonight because despite all my NaNoWriMo prep blog posts, I still have a bit of prepping myself to finish up. Hopefully I will get that done today though but if not I am not too worried because my word count is not very high. I am using NaNoWriMo to pump out a story for this writing contest, and my word count is only 17,000 words which I know I can easily do in a month. I am super excited to get started and I hope all of you are having a great first day of Camp NaNoWriMo!
