Anticipated Summer Releases

It has been a while since I talked about what books I am anticipating the release of, and I thought it would be fun to do one since it’s been so long. Today, I am going to be talking about some of my most anticipated releases for the summer months, and I hope you enjoy! Let me know if we have any of the same anticipated releases, and if not, which ones you are looking forward to getting your hands on.

Anyways, onto the blog post!

Sorcery of Thorns by Margaret Rogerson

I have heard a lot of buzz about this book lately, and recently, I have been completely in the mood for dark fantasy which is exactly what this book is. A Scorcery of Thorns follows Elisabeth, a girl who lives in a world where sorcerers are viewed as evil. Elisabeth was raised in one of her world’s Great Libraries, where evidence of sorcerers is in grimoires that are locked behind iron chains, but when an act of sabotage results in the darkest grimoire being set free, Elisabeth is forced to face her justice. But, soon she finds herself in an alliance with a sorcerer named Nathaniel, who makes her question her view on sorcerers and why her world hates them so much.  This sounds great to me, and I cannot wait to get my hands on it! On shelves June 4th

The Merciful Crow by Margaret Owen

Another book that is right up my current reading fancies: fantasy. This book, however, is sorted amongst three points of views: A future leader of a tribe called “the Crows”, a prince who has faked his own death, and a bodyguard who wishes to live his own life. I don’t know too much more, but I love when there are multiple POVs that walk their own paths for a bit before finally crossing. This is a book I have heard nothing but good things about so I cannot wait to finally get a chance to read it for myself! On shelves July 30th

A House of Salt and Sorrows by Erin A. Craig

What spoke out to me about this book was that right away, I knew it was based on the story The Twelve Dancing Princesses which I am pretty sure is a Grimm brothers fairy tale…and also the fantastic Barbie movie! This book follows Annaleigh, one of twelve sisters but over the years, four of those sisters’ lives have been cut short. Their deaths caused by different things, one thing has been constant with each and that is that every night, Annaleigh’s sisters flee to balls with dancing and “shimmering shoes”. Always being wary of following her sisters, Annaleigh decides to investigate and begins to understand that possibly her sisters’ deaths weren’t accidents, but planned. The idea of one of my favourite Barbie movies from when I was younger being twisted into an epic YA dark fantasy story is something I did not know I desperately needed, but now am jumping at the chance to get my hands on it! On shelves August 6th

Those are the three books I am looking forward to their release of in the summer months, and while it isn’t a lot, I am very excited to get my hands on each one. Don’t forget to check out my last blog post, as well as my social media accounts which are all linked down below. Thanks for reading 🙂

TV Show Recommendations

I have been watching a lot of Netflix lately so I decided to give you guys some TV show recommendations that you have to watch. Most of these are pretty popular so there is a good chance you have heard of them already but I am here to motivate you to watch them!!!

The 100 is a fantastic TV show that takes place 100 years after the Earth became radiating by mankind and now, people are living in space. In the show, you follow 100 prisoners as they are sent to the ground to see if it is survivable and a whole bunch of crap goes down and it is amazing. Season 3 is ending this week I believe so you will be able to binge watch it for quite a while! The first few episodes are bit slow for some people but the TV series just gets so much better with every season.

Gilmore Girls is such an amazing TV show  from the early 2000’s about a mother and a daughter and their lives. To some it may sound boring but they are such hilarious characters and the show is extremely addicting. I am currently watching this and I am almost on season 5 and I cannot stop watching it. Another reason to watch this show is because the revival is coming out this fall!

The Mindy Project is so hilarious and entertaining that I think my life would have boring without it. The Mindy Project is about a girl named Mindy (obviously) that thinks life is like a movie and she is always looking for “the one”. This TV show makes my day and I am waiting for season 5 to come on Netflix so I can continue on.

How to Get Away With Murder is so addicting and cool! I won’t give away the plot to much but I think the title says a lot…this TV show is just so messed up (in a good way) and so are the characters that it is just so interesting to watch and you need to find out what happens next! Netflix needs to hurry up and add season 2 so I can be happy again.

Castle is a murder/mystery TV show that is probably one of my all time favourite series. It follows Richard Castle, a mystery writer who joins the NYPD to get info for his book but soon ends up becoming their partner. The humor is amazing in this show and all the episodes are so entertaining to watch. The show is almost done their eight season but sadly they will not be continuing with a ninth which makes me so, so sad but you still got to watch this TV show.

Top 5 Favourite Booktubers

I love watching YouTube videos, especially booktube videos! if you don’t know what booktube is, it is basically just YouTube videos of people talking about books. They do book reviews, book tags, and basically anything book related. If you have never watched booktube or are in search of some wonderful booktubers (not that they are not all wonderful) then here are some recommendations below!

abookutopia is a booktube channel run by a girl named Sasha and she was one of my first booktubers to watch and she is definitely my favourite of them all! I highly recommend you to check her out if you don’t already!

Polandbananasbooks is another great booktube channel run by a girl named Christine and she is really hilarious and a lot of her book related videos incorporate acting and just funny things into them which make them super entertaining!

Katytastic is run by Kat and she was also one of the first booktubers and I love watching her videos! Her videos are fun and have something for every book reader in them!

Jessethereader is my fourth recommendation which is a booktube channel run by a guy named Jesse. I recently started watching him but he is just so funny and I love the books that he talks about!

Peruseproject is another amazing booktube channel run by a girl named Raegan and I also love her channel because its a little bit different from the others channels just in the choices she reads which I find really interesting because it gets me interested in books I haven’t really thought of picking up!

So that is it for this blog post and I hope you guys enjoyed and get some great booktubers from it! If you have any recommendations please leave a comment below 🙂

February Wrap Up

February was definitely not the best reading month for me…I think I only managed to read 2 books this month which is not terribly bad for me (considering I am a slow reader) but in January I read way more books but I guess the streak will not be continuing. I guess I have been slow because I have been sick and managed to slip into a reading slump, which I am conquering by reading City of Bones by Cassandra Clare (BTW check out my blog post on how to conquer a reading slump!) so I am hoping that will get me back into the swing of things! Okay so lets start the wrap up!

The first book I completed in February was Origin by Jennifer L Armentrout which is the 4th book in the Lux series which I am obsessed with! The Lux series is about a girl named Katy who moves in next to a set of twin aliens and we follow her experiences with them. So good and I highly recommend it! I am dying to get my hands on the last book Opposition but sadly it seems to be sold out EVERYWHERE.

The second and last book I completed in the month of February was Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell. This book is about a girl named Cath who is shy and a booknerd, and is attending her first year of college with her twin sister, Wren but Wren wants to go off and explore on her own leaving Cath to fend for herself…but she finds it hard to make friends and fit in considering the fact that she doesn’t want to…I absolutely love this book and I flew through it when I was sick! Definite recommendation!

Okay, so that is all I have for this blog post and I will be back with another one tomorrow!

March Releases + TBR!!!

February is coming to an end which means it is time to share my most anticipated releases of March and what I plan on reading!

Okay, so the only book I am anticipating for March is Lady Midnight by Cassandra Clare!!! I love all things and everything about The Mortal Instruments so I will be buying this book as soon as possible!

Now for the TBR portion of my blog…

In March I plan on finishing up Passengers by Alexandra Bracken which is taking so long to finish…I’m just at a very slow part and I am pushing myself to finish it.

I am also planning on reading Clockwork Angel by Cassandra Clare because I started re-reading it when I was sick so I thought I would give the whole trilogy a re read.

And the last book I am hoping to get to is Lady Midnight! I am hoping to just fly through this book since I have been waiting for it for so long and I am expecting amazing things!

That was my short blog post for the day and since I am no longer sick and going away for a while I will be more active so yay!

Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell

(Non-spoiler review)

Synopsis:

Fangirl is about a girl named Cath who is off to her first year of college with her twin sister, Wren. Before college they did everything together, they even shared a bedroom. But now that Wren sees some freedom she takes it, leaving Cath behind to fend for herself. The book follows Cath as she struggles to find her place and fit in, even though she doesn’t really want to try and fit in and make friends which doesn’t make it easier.

It has been over a year since I read this book for the first time and after re reading it I am happy to say I loved it just as much as the first time. Fangirl is such an easy, feel good book that you can’t help but love. Even if contemporary is not exactly your genre I can almost guarantee you will adore this book.

The characters in this book are so relatable and you find yourself really relating to at least one character in this book. The character feel so real and I always have to remind myself they are not real just because they are so 3D. They are not perfect but by the end of the book I love all of them equally. The main character, Cath is super shy but by the end of the book you can see some character development and while she didn’t change tremendously, you can’t help but feel happy for her in the end. Also her twin sister, Wren, she goes through some tough spots in the book and I am not exactly sure if she realizes her wrong doing but she does pick up her act.

I just love Rainbow Rowell’s writing style, it just flows really nicely and I find it pleasing to read which is why I have a good chunk of her books on my shelf. I just adore this book and you all need to pick it up!

So that was my short, no-spoiler review. I cannot really say much more without spoiling anything so I better just leave it how it is!

Popular Books I Still Haven’t Read

All of us have those books we have never read that everyone else has and today I decided to share with you the ones I haven’t gotten to yet.

The Twilight Series by Stephanie Meyer…I read the first book in the summer but it never wowed me so I didn’t move onto the next books but I have all the books so I will try and finish the series.

Passengers by Alexandra Bracken…I am currently reading this now after putting it down last month because nothing exciting happened. I know the exciting part happens towards the end but that is like another 150 pages and I just wish it wasn’t so slow but I will finish it, I promise and then I will write a review on it.

Dorothy Must Die series by Danielle Paige…Okay so I read the first book and at first I enjoyed it but then I lost interest. It wasn’t because nothing exciting happened but because I didn’t connect with the characters at all and it just wasn’t my type of book. The CW is currently deciding whether or not to make it a TV series and I will definitely give it a shot because I think it would make a good show.

The Death Cure by James Dashner…Again I read the first and second book and I really liked the first book. I thought it was a great idea but then I read the second book and all they seemed to do was walk through the desert and that bore me. I feel like Dashner kind of didn’t try as hard with the second book which drove me to not wanting to read the last book but I got spoiled anyway…cry.

Those are some of the popular books I have not read and comment down below the ones you haven’t read!

My Book Buying List!

I have so many books I want and NEED to buy so here is my list!

Glass Sword by Victoria Aveyard. I really enjoyed Red Queen so I cannot wait to get my hands on this book! Yes it wasn’t all that original but it was really a great, easy read and that plot twist….

Fallen Kingdoms by Morgan Rhode is another book I need to get because it sounds like such a great fantasy book and I have heard so many great things!

Truthwitch by Susan Dennard is another fantasy book I would love to read. The concept is so unique and fantastic that I want to read about it.

Oppositon by Jennifer L Armentrout is the final book in the Lux series which is one of my new favourite series and after finishing Origin last night I NEED to read the last book and finds out what happens like now.

Stars Above by Marissa Meyer is a bunch of short stories that take place after the Lunar Chronicles which by the way is an amazing series so go read it. After reading Winter, the last book in the series, I am really excited to see how the characters are after the war and everything.

Shadowhunter Academy by Cassandra Clare and a few other authors is about Simon after he becomes a Shadowhunter and I am pretty sure you can tell he goes to Shadowhunter Academy. This isn’t exactly a book series because it is a whole bunch of novellas but I heard they get really great and besides, I would like to see the characters again and Simon is just a great, funny character.

Okay! So that is all for today and I will be back with another post tomorrow 🙂

New February TBR!!!

I change my mind a lot and yesterday I scanned my bookshelf and realized there are a few books I haven’t read in sooo long so I decided to swap them out with some of the books originally in my TBR.

Origin by Jennifer L Armentrout was originally on my TBR and I will still be reading that because I am almost done and it is really good at the moment so I am so excited to finish it! 100 pages left!

After Origin, I am planning on finishing Passengers by Alexandra Bracken because I never finished it and I am halfway done and I would like to complete it before I forget what happened in the first 200 pages!

The last book I am planning on reading in February is Clockwork Angel by Cassandra Clare considering Lady Midnight is coming out in less than a month! Also the Infernal Devices trilogy is just so amazing and I haven’t read it in a while.

FUN FACT: Did you know Cassandra Clare is not Cassandra Clare’s real name?! Her real name is Judith Rumelt and Cassandra Clare is her pen name.

Hope you enjoy this TBR update and I hope that FUN FACT blew your mind because I know my whole world has changed. Happy Valentine’s Day!

Valentine’s Day Reads

So Valentine’s Day is right around the corner so what better than to give you all some cute, feel good books for Valentine’s Day!

Anna and the French Kiss, Lola and the Boy Next door and Isla and the Happily Ever After by Stephanie Perkins are perfect books to read around Valentine’s Day. I have mentioned them a lot but they are really a great and adorable read!

Eleanor and Park by Rainbow Rowell is another cute contemporary worth the read! It has a love that is just so heart warming and I absolutely love it.

Paper Towns and The Fault in Our Stars by John Green are definitely a must read on Valentine’s Day. TFIOS is a cry worthy book that hits you right in the feels and Paper Towns has an adventure for love that makes you crave your own!

If I Stay by Gayle Forman is sad but the love in it is so realistic and sweet. The movie is also amazing so you can read it and watch it!

Kissing Frogs by Alisha Sevigny is a really fast, cute read that a lot of people have not heard about and I really think it should get more publicity. It is not long at all and the concept is really fun to read.

Those a few recommendations for Valentine’s Day that I hope you guys check out if you haven’t read them! Some of these books also have movies like TFIOS, Paper Towns and If I Stay so you should also check those out!
