Camp NaNoWriMo: Tips and Tricks

Camp NaNoWriMo or just NaNoWriMo can be very stressful for some because you have one crammed month to complete whatever amount of words your goal is. Anyways, to help you guys here are a few tricks, tips and prompts to get you ready for the month!

Tip #1 – Find out how many words you have to write per day to complete your goal by the end of the month. This helps a lot because you know how many words you have to write and that will help you be more organized with your writing! My goal is 50k words so I am planning to write 1,600-2000 words a day!

Tip #2 – Plan out the scenes of your book. What I mean by this is have a rough draft based on what is going to happen in every chapter of your book. This really helps when writing because you can use that as your guide and then add more creativity and detail to it!

Tip #3 – Feeling writers block coming? Search up some writing prompts to get your creativity working! Here are some that I found on the internet:

Prompt #1 – Write about 2 people seeing each other for the first time.

Prompt #2 – Envision a dragon. Do you battle it? Or is the dragon friendly?

Prompt #3 – Write about being inside an old and abandoned warehouse.

Tip #4 – Make sure you like what you are writing about! You don’t want to be stuck writing something you don’t enjoy writing about. If there is a scene in your book that just doesn’t flow or doesn’t seem write to you change it. This story is for you!

Tip #5 – Take breaks. Writing can be hard! Make sure you treat yourself to short breaks every once and a while so your mind can take a breather. Listen to some music, watch Netflix or just stare at the ceiling or anything else that relaxes you. I suggest taking a 5 minute break every 20 minutes

Those are a few tips for your NaNoWriMo journey and I hope this will be or was helpful for you! Happy Writing!
