December 2017 TBR!

November was a busy and stressful month…not only did I give up on NaNoWriMo half way through but it was also hard to read. However, I did read a good number of books and I hoping I can read even more this coming month!

The Summer I Turned Pretty, It’s Not Summer Without You & We’ll Always Have the Summer by Jenny Han

Re reading the Lara Jean trilogy really made me want so more of Jenny Han’s fun writing, as well as some easy, fluffy contemporaries. So, I am re reading her other trilogy and I am so excited! These books follow our main character, Belly, who returns to the small seaside town of Cousins where she shares a summer house with her mother’s best friend and her two sons, Jeremiah and Conrad. This book is filled with romance and summer fun, which is perfect because I really need a bright book like this as the days become shorter and darker.

Lord of the Flies by William Golding

Currently I am reading this book for English class so I thought I would throw it onto the TBR for December. I am over half way done and it is…definitely interesting and I am curious to see how things wrap up as I near the end. Lord of the Flies is a classic, and is about a group of English school boys who are fleeing England because of World War II, only to have their plane shot down and they end up on an abandoned, “paradise-like” island. As always, I am sure I would enjoy this book a lot more if it wasn’t required reading for school, but I am really happy to finally be reading it!

Hush, Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick

hush-hush

I put this on my TBR a few months ago but never got around to picking it up. Hopefully since winter break is approaching, I will finally sit down and read this because I have a feeling I will fly through this book. All I know is that it has fallen angels and a romance…but honestly that is good enough for me! I haven’t read an angel book in a long time so it will be interesting to see how much I like them now.

Those are a few books I want to read in the month of December and I hope you enjoyed. Don’t forget to check out my last blog post: December 2017 Talk!

January 2017 Book Haul!

Oh my goodness…I thought I got a lot of books in December because of Christmas and whatnot, but somehow this year I managed to accumulate 13 books. I have no idea how this happened but before you go off to judge me I will say all of these are used and were under the price of $3 and altogether I spent under $20 which is so crazy! Anyway, here are the books I purchased in January.

The Princess Diaries, The Princess Diaries: Princess in the Spotlight and The Princess Diaries: Princess in Love by Meg Cabot – These are the first 3 books in The Princess Diaries series which I was obsessed with when I was younger. In these books, we follow Mia Thermopolis an awkward, geeky teenage girl that one day discovers that her father is the Prince of a forgein place called Genovia. I loved these books and cannot wait to give them a re read after 5 years!

Shiver and Linger by Maggie Stiefvater – I do own The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater but I haven’t had the chance to read it yet, but I have heard great things. I have also heard great things about her Shiver trilogy and am very excited to give it a read! I have no idea what it is about but I read a brief portion of the synopsis and from what I gather it has wolves in it…I could be totally wrong though. Continue reading “January 2017 Book Haul!”

December 2016 Wrap Up!

Sorry that I haven’t posted in about a week, I planned on scheduling some posts but I just couldn’t think of any that I knew I would be proud of but I am back, so I will be posting again everyday except Sunday like I usually do! Anyways, I didn’t manage to read too many books this month but I did complete a few so here they are.

The Truth About Forever by Sarah Dessen – I have been reading a lot of contemporary lately so I naturally picked up another Sarah Dessen book. I did a little research before I picked up another one of her books and I am very satisfied with the one I chose. I really liked The Truth About Forever, I thought the characters were very relatable and had real problems, and the ending made me exciting to pick up more of Sarah Dessen’s books! 4/5 stars

The Summer I Turned Pretty by Jenny Han – I absolutely adored Jenny Han’s “To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before” books so I just had to pick up her other trilogy. I am currently reading the second one but I did complete the first one earlier this month and I just flew through it. These books are the definition of summer contemporary books and honestly, despite it being this middle of winter, they got me really excited for the summertime! 4.5/5 stars

We’ll Always Have the Summer by Jenny Han – This is the second book in The Summer I Turned Pretty trilogy and I did enjoy it but I found it wasn’t as fast paced and fun as the first. I do understand that the second book is slightly darker and gloomier because of certain events that took place, I know I would enjoy it a little more if that certain event didn’t occur because if you read the books, you know what I mean. 4/5 stars

Those are the 3 books I completed this month and despite the lack of them, I enjoyed all of them and would call it a successful reading month! I hope you enjoyed and don’t forget to check out my last blog post!
