Reading/Writing Update!

I have had a pretty good reading and writing month already and it is about time. This month I have already completed 2 books, 1 was a new read and the other was a re read but I really enjoyed them both! I started off the year by finishing up The Summer I Turned Pretty trilogy by Jenny Han, and the last book, We’ll Always Have the Summer was the first book I finished this month. I loved this trilogy and it was what I needed to read at that time. The other book I finished I actually just completed today and that was Obsidian by Jennifer L Armentrout and I completed it just in time for the Biannual Bibliothan which is tomorrow. I have already read Obsidian but it was really great to re read it and I cannot wait to re read the second book, Onyx! Since the Biannual Bibliothan is tomorrow, that means I will be picking up Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince and trying to finish that by Monday. Anyways, I am super excited to get some more reading done!

For writing I haven’t been doing to bad either. I restarted the first page of the story I am writing a couple times, but I have finally wrote a beginning I like and am already on page 5. I am planning on doing some writing right after I finish up this blog post so I am hoping to reach 6 or 7 pages by the end of today. I really love getting back into a writing routine and even though I didn’t have to much time to write the past 2 days because of school, I want to get a lot done this weekend!

That is all for my Reading/Writing Update and I hope you enjoyed!

January 2017 Biannual Bibliothan TBR!

If you didn’t know, the Biannual Bibliothan is a reading event that takes place in the summer and the winter and is a great way to connect with other readers over social media. There are reading challenges (which is what I will be participating in), video challenges and even challenges over Twitter, Instagram and YouTube. I wasn’t sure if I was going to participate this year but I decided to so here are the books I will be reading from January 8-14 which is when the event takes place.

  1. Throwback: Choose a Reading Challenge from a Previous Year: Re Read Your Favourite Book in a Series – For this I am going to be re reading An Ember in the Ashes by Sabaa Tahir and I know there are only 2 books out at the moment but it will be part of a series. I really wanted to read the second book, A Torch Against the Night, but I feel like I should re read the first book so it is fresh in my mind for when I jump into the next one! Plus it is fantastic.
  2. Read a 2016 ReleaseA Torch Against the Night by Sabaa Tahir came out in Summer of 2016 so right after I finish Ember I am diving into this sequel. I am so excited to use this bibliothan as a chance to push myself to finally read this book and I know I am going to love it.
  3. Read a BookTuber Recommendation – I don’t personally know any BookTuber’s so I just watched a few recommendation videos and picked a  book from there. Since I haven’t yet finished re reading Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince by JK Rowling I decided to use this as way to motivate myself to complete it!
  4. Read a Book You Were Really Excited for but Never Picked Up – I am really, really excited to read The Wrath and the Dawn by Renee Adieh but I haven’t got a chance to pick it up yet so I am so pumped to give it a read this month.
  5. Read a Retelling – I am doubling up this challenge and am reading The Wrath and the Dawn by Renee Adieh because it is a retelling of the story A Thousand and One Nights so it counts!
  6. Read a Diverse Book – I am also doubling up this challenge and choosing An Ember in the Ashes by Sabaa Tahir because this amazing book is filled with people of colour so I am excited to read it for my challenge!

Those are the books I chose for each challenge and I hope you enjoyed! If you are interested in joining the Biannual Bibliothan than check out their YouTube channel Biannual Bibliothan for more info!

Reading/Writing Update!

It is that time of the week again so here is a quick update on where I am in my reading and writing update!

This week I have read about 300 pages of Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince but the last 2 days I haven’t read anything…I just have been too exhausted to read before bed, which is when I usually get my reading done, but I want to get as much reading done as I can this weekend. I would really like to finish The Half Blood Prince by Wednesday but if not oh well. I would also like to read a contemporary this weekend…I am just in the mood for something fun and light but not sure which one. I am deciding between Eleanor and Park or To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before (both would be re reads) but they are both so amazing so its too hard to decide.

For writing, it was another week of nothing…well sort of. On Sunday last week, I attending a write-in writing competition and wrote a 3 page story. The writing competition was really fun and it was a great way to just write without overthinking too much. I am not sure how great my story was but it was nice to just have 3 hours to write in silence without being distracted. I do have a plan to start writing this idea I have been thinking about for a while now, but I am waiting until January 1st to start that because around that time I won’t be busy and it is the start of the new year, so I think it will be the perfect time to write. I am really excited to write about this idea, but I do need some more time to work certain things out but I am almost there!

That is all for my reading and writing update and I hope you enjoyed it!

Books I Want to Read Over the Holidays!

I am not sure how much time I will have to read this holiday, but I do want to complete a few books before the new year!

Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince by JK Rowling – I am currently reading this novel and am already over 100 pages in so I will most likely be able to finish the book before the holidays but just in case, its going on this list. The 6th book is definitely one of my favourites so I am super excited to be able to re read it!

Tales from the Shadowhunter Academy by Cassandra Clare – I really want to continue reading this novel and I am hoping that I actually enjoy it after picking it back up. I am not sure why I didn’t love it as much as I thought…maybe because all the hype that has been around it has kind of put me off but whatever, I am going to give it another go this winter break!

A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J Maas – This is also a book that I put down and now really want to continue. I loved the first book in this trilogy, and am already half way through this book so there is NO reason why I can’t finish it before the holidays are over and the new year begins…

Those are 3 books that I really want to complete over this holiday, and while I don’t know how much time I’ll have, I think I can do it!

Reading/Writing Update!

This week was pretty busy and I think during the whole mess of it all I fell into a reading slump because I could not make myself read. This week, I was reading Tales from the Shadowhunter Academy by Cassandra Clare and I was enjoying it, I mean I hadn’t gotten to any amazing parts yet, but before I could, I just didn’t want to read anymore. I think it might’ve been because of the workload I have been under lately, but I just put the book down and let myself take a break for a day. I want to continue reading it though, but for now I am reading Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince by JK Rowling because I need to finish that before January. I am only about 30 pages in but I obviously am really loving it so I think I will use this book to get me out of my terrible slump and then finally complete Tales from the Shadowhunter Academy. My winter break is coming up in the next week and a half and while that normally means more time for reading, this is a break will I have barely anytime for reading so I want to get as much as I can done in the next 10 days.

For writing I have done exceptionally better. This week I wrote about 4000 words but I am feeling very stumped on what I am working on so I think I am going to take a break from it because I have tried to approach it in many different ways in this story but nothing seems to be working. I do really like this idea so I think I am just going to try and change a few things later on. Tomorrow though, I am attending this 3 Hour Fiction Writing Contest Write In sort of thing and I am very excited. I have a good, solid idea and am really pumped to explore it more! Other than that, I am really hoping to continue writing this next week.

That is it for my Reading/Writing Update and I hope you enjoyed!

Reading/Writing Update!

The only writing I have done this week is for my English class and even that was only one story with about 530 words on it…so basically I failed. That’s okay though because right now I am definitely going through a bad case of writer’s block and since I haven’t had any time to devote to actually ridding myself of the writer’s block, that is what this weekend is for! I have a few ideas I am bouncing around in my head but every time I get past a certain scene it stumps me so this weekend I am going to retrace my steps and see how I can approach it differently. Other than that, I am just going to try to write whenever and whatever I can.

For reading, I have read about 100 pages of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix and am on almost page 600! I was reading last night and flipped to the end, only then realizing I had just a bit over 100 pages to go which was crazy because I have been reading this book since the beginning of the month…yeah I have been taking it really, really slow. Luckily, I have managed to read a few other things here and there to bump up my monthly book count. Anyways, my goal is to finish this book by Wednesday night of next week because that is the final day of November which means December, which also means it will be time to read Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince! So much Harry Potter and so much excitement.

That is all for my Reading/Writing Update and I hope you liked it! Don’t forget to check out my last blog post: December 2016 TBR! and you should also comment about the book you are reading using 3 words!

December 2016 TBR!

December is almost here and I am honestly so excited because December means winter, Christmas and Christmas Break which means more time to read! I cannot wait to get to all these amazing books so here they are…

A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J Maas – I began this book in September but ended up putting it down for some reason. Now, I really would like to complete it before 2017 and since winter break is the perfect time to read this specific book…I am going to finish it. The first book in this trilogy, A Court of Thorns and Roses, follows a girl named Feyre who as punishment for killing a faerie disguised as a wolf, is forced to live among the faeries and give up her life in the mortal realm. These books are very action packed and steamy and are perfection exploding on pages!

Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince by JK Rowling – I am almost done Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix and almost right away will be shifting into the 6th book! I am really excited to jump into this book because it is definitely one of my favourites in the series because it holds some of my all time favourites scenes. I am sad though, that I am almost done re reading the Harry Potter series but as they say, all good things must come to an end.

Bloodlines by Richelle Mead – I love Vampire Academy and I am really pumped to start the Bloodlines series because I heard it is almost as good. All I know is that we follow Sydney and Adrian which is awesome, but also a very unusual pairing in my opinion…anyways, this is another book I would like to complete before 2017 so fingers crossed it actually happens!

The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater – I have always wanted to pick up this series but never had the urge to until I had a gift card to the bookstore and saw this book right in front of me. Now, I am so excited to jump into this series and its fandom and hopefully, I will get to do that this month. If not that’s okay because there is always 2017 to complete it but I am hoping to be able to finish this before the new year.

Those are all the books I have planned to read in December, and despite the fact that the first 3/4 of December will be hectic, I am hoping to get a lot of reading done the week before I return to school.
