Reading/Writing Routine!

This week was a pretty good reading week, I managed to complete Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins and as always, very satisfying read. It is filled with romance and left me feeling all warm and fuzzy which is what I look for in a good contemporary! Since I am finished, I was going to pick up Glass Sword by Victoria Aveyard but my contemporary loving self ended up choosing Since You’ve Been Gone by Morgan Matson. Although, I am already almost finished it so after that I will hopefully pick up Glass Sword or some other book I really need to read.

For writing, I did a little bit! Yesterday I wrote a page and a half of a story for this writing contest called Writers of the Future and it is a really great contest! It doesn’t have a fee and it is based for sci-fi and fantasy writers. If you are interested definitely check it out. Overall I am slowly writing again and am really happy.

That is all for my reading and writing routine and I hope you enjoyed!

Reading/Writing Update!

Sorry I didn’t post anything yesterday, I had no energy after a full week of exams! Also, this blog turned 1 year old yesterday which is so exciting and I just want to thank all of you for an amazing year. I love blogging and am so happy to continue it!

Anyways, now onto what I have been reading lately. I recently completed Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell and ugh, it was such a good re read! It was so light hearted and easy going and was what I NEEDED after all the studying and exams I did this week. I also needed to bump up my book count for this month and I knew I would get through that book quickly and as usual I did. Now since I am finished, I really want to re read Eleanor and Park by Rainbow Rowell since I am in the mood for her books so I will probably start that today! Other than that, since it is February next week, I am hoping to start on my TBR by trying to read Glass Sword by Victoria Aveyard.

For writing I have done absolutely nothing. The reason behind that is mostly because I was way, way to busy to set an hour aside just to focus writing. Since my school life has slowed down a bit, I want to jump back into writing again either this week or the following. I am still incredibly pumped to continue on with my idea and I cannot wait to dive deeper into it!

That is all for my Reading/Writing Update and I hope you enjoyed!

February 2017 TBR!

I know we still have 11 days of January, but I love making my TBR’s for the following months…even if I don’t always stick too them 100%.

Glass Sword by Victoria Aveyard – I have yet to read the 2nd book in this series and the 3rd book is coming out in February so I need to read it ASAP! I really enjoyed Red Queen and am really hoping that Glass Sword is just as good. Red Queen follows a girl named Mare who lives in a world where society is divided by the colour of your blood, red or silver. Red bloods are the plain and ordinary while silver bloods have special powers. But when Mare, who is a red blood displays the abilities of a silver, she is forced to pretend she is someone she isn’t to please the King and Queen.

Crooked Kingdom by Leigh Bardugo – I read the 1st book, Six of Crows in the summer and thought it was really interesting and amazing so I am super pumped to dive into the 2nd and final book in this duology. I recommend this duology to anyone who loves fantasy and an epic cast of characters! Six of Crows is about a group of people who are sent on a mission to complete a crazy and impossible task and it gets so insane!

Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell – It has been a year since I re read this book so I want to give it a another read very, very soon! I love Fangirl because it is so relatable and so adorable that I don’t understand how you could not like it. Fangirl follows Cath who is going into her first year of college with her twin sister, Wren. But unlike Wren, Cath is very closed off and shy and would rather stick to her sister’s side throughout college. But when Cath meets her roommate and her friend, Levi, Cath manages to break out of her bubble a little bit and things get interesting.

Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins – I always fly through this book and cannot wait to re read it after a long while. Anna and the French Kiss is about an American girl named Anna who is sent off to a boarding school in Paris for her senior year of high school. There, she meets a group of close knit friends, and one of them happens to be a gorgeous Parisian boy named Etienne St.Clair. This book is filled with romantic, hilarious and heart breaking moments that any contemporary lover will adore!

Those are all the books I would like to read in the month of February and I hope you enjoyed!

September TBR 2016!!!

I know there is still about a week left of August but I am so excited to get to my September TBR! I got quite a few books that I am pumped to read so here it is 🙂

Bloodlines by Richelle Mead – This is the spin off series of Vampire Academy, which I absolutely loved, and I am so excited to finally get to it! I have heard nothing but great things so I know I will love it. From what I gathered, it follows Sydney and Adrian instead of Rose and Lissa so that will be an interesting change!

Glass Sword by Victoria Aveyard – This book has been sitting on my shelf since February and it is about time I get to it. The first book, Red Queen, was very fun and fast paced and I really enjoyed it! If Glass Sword is anything like it I will definitely be anticipating the third book right after.

Empire of Dust by Eleanor Herman – This is the second book next to Legacy of Kings which is a YA Historical fiction book. I love Ancient Greece and it takes place in Ancient Greece so I obviously loved this book. It was just so action packed and amazing and I cannot wait to finally dive into the second book!

The Assassin’s Blade by Sarah J Maas – I have wanted to read the Throne of Glass novella for a while now but I just haven’t picked it up. I know I will love it though, just because it is by Sarah J Maas but also because it is a novella to such an epic series. Seriously, if you haven’t read the Throne of Glass series you need to pick it up. Now.

Those are all the books I want to get to in September and hopefully I actually do because my school starts in the beginning of September so we will see how busy I am! I always make time to read though.

Summer TBR

My summer break is coming up in about a month so I decided to share with you guys a few of the books I am wanting to read over summer because I know I will have loads of time. Comment the books you want to get to this summer!

A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J Maas is a high fantasy novel that is loosely based on Beauty and the Beast. I got this book almost a year ago and I just have not been in the high fantasy mood so I am hoping I will be in the summer because I have heard amazing things about it!

Saint Anything by Sarah Dessen a YA contemporary book that I also got about a year ago and I really want to read it this summer. I love reading contemporary during the summer so I am hoping that will give me the motivation to pick it up. I am not entirely sure what this book is about but I have heard good things about it so yay!

Graceling by Krisitn Cashore is a fantasy book and again, I am not sure what it is about. A lot of people have read this so I decided to pick it up from the bookstore and give it a try! But that was like…in the winter so I want to get to it this summer as well.

Glass Sword by Victoria Aveyard is the second book in her dystopian series or trilogy. I enjoyed her first book, Red Queen but I think one of the reasons I have been putting this book off since February is because I have heard mixed things about it but I am only hoping it is good!

Those are some of the books I want to read this summer and I hope you liked this post 🙂

May TBR!

There are 6 more days April so I decided to share with you guys all the great books I have planned to read in May!

Shadow Kiss by Richelle Mead is the third book in the Vampire Academy series that I am currently reading. I am starting the second one today so hopefully and most likely, I will be getting to the third one soon! I am really liking the series so far just because it is really easy and fun to read!

Unravel Me by Tahereh Mafi is the second book in the Shatter Me trilogy which I am also reading at the moment. Shatter Me was such an amazing first book and every page had me absolutely captivated. The characters are super detailed and real and every single word on every single page sounds like poetry. It’s so amazing and you neeeed to read this trilogy!

Demigod Diaries by Rick Riordan is a short story about some of the characters from the Percy Jackson world which I love. I have read this before so this is just a re read so I can add some more books on my ‘Books read in 2016’ list. I mainly read this book during my English class when I have like 20 minutes to silent read and I am really enjoying re reading this!

Glass Sword by Victoria Aveyard is the last book on my TBR and is also the second book in the Red Queen series (or trilogy, I don’t know). The first book, Red Queen, has a lot of mixed reviews but I was one of the people who really enjoyed it. I found it super easy to read, the characters were easy to like and overall I thought it was a great story. It may not be the most original story out there but that doesn’t mean I don’t like and I can only hope the second book is even better!

That is my TBR and I hope you liked it! (Leave a comment on another post you would like me to do)

Books I Own but Haven’t Read

Here is a list of all the books I own but just haven’t read, not because they are boring but because I keep putting them off for new books I get but I think we all have that problem.

Saint Anything by Sarah Dessen. I am not entirely sure what this is about but I know it is some sort of contemporary book. I will get to this eventually but it is not on the top of my list to read at the moment so I am not sure when that will be.

Carry On by Rainbow Rowell. I am currently reading this book and loving it so it will be off this list pretty soon! Highly recommend it if you love Harry Potter.

The Heart of Betrayal by Mary E Pearson. This is the second book in the Kiss of Deception series and while I really enjoyed the first book, this book just started off with a slow start and I wasn’t able to get into it. Hopefully if I pick it up again, read more and be able to get into the book.

Glass Sword by Victoria Aveyard. I just recently bought this book and I am planning on reading it sometime in April. I heard it is a bit slower compared to the first book which I enjoyed but I am only hoping that I will like this book just as much.

Four by Veronica Roth. I started this book (or is it a novella?) two years ago and I just found Four’s point of view very boring but maybe if it I try reading it now it will be more appealing, fingers crossed.

Bane Chronicles by Cassandra Clare. This is the only Cassandra Clare book I have not completed but only because I got distracted with her Infernal Devices trilogy and never got around to finishing this book but I will read it!

New Moon, Eclipse, and Breaking Dawn by Stephanie Meyer. I have only read Twilight it the series and it was okay but I never had any motivation to continue on with the series but I think eventually I will finish it just because it is so popular.

Vampire Academy by Rachelle Mead. My cousin recommended this series to me and it is loved by a lot of people so I thought I would give the series a shot! I haven’t gotten around to it yet but I will soon. I don’t read much vampire based books so this should be good!

The Assassin’s Blade by Sarah J Maas. This is a novella to Sarah J Maas’s Throne of Glass series which is amazing. I have heard this novella is really good so I am planning on reading it before  I pick up her newest book, Queen of Shadows.

A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J Maas. When I picked this book up, I just wasn’t in the mood for high fantasy so when I attempted to read it I just wasn’t in the right mood so I never finished it. Again, I hope to get to this soon since the next book in this series is coming out very soon.

Graceling by Kristin Cashore. I just have heard great things about this book and I saw it for a very cheap price so I thought why not? Sadly, I haven’t been able to pick it up because of all the other books I have to read…

Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs. I have heard so much about this series and it makes me extremely excited to read it! This book is very different from what I usually read so it will be a great way to get a look at other ‘types’ of YA books. I am planning on reading this over my Spring Break which is in the next 2 weeks!

The Darkest Minds by Alexandra Bracken. I bought this book on my tablet because it was only $2 but I haven’t tried reading it yet. I don’t know when I am going to read this book but hopefully soon and I really would like to love it!

Passengers by Alexandra Bracken. Okay, so everyone seems to love this book but I am halfway through and I am very bored…I put this book down a month ago after trying to read it but I just can’t get into it but I am determined to finish it!

So those are all the books on my shelf that I have not read and it actually isn’t a whole lot considering I have just over 100 books! Anyway I hope you enjoyed reading this and comment below some books you own but haven’t read yet either!

PS: A Lady Midnight book review will be coming soon!

Mini Book Haul

Yesterday I went to the bookstore and bought some things I wanted so here is my first book haul!

The first thing I bought was Glass Sword by Victoria Aveyard which is the second book in the Red Queen series. Red Queen is about a girl name Mare who lives in a society that is divided by the colour of their blood, red or silver. Reds are the poorer people and silver are the wealthy and can even have control over a certain element. I won’t say much more in case you haven’t read it but I would recommend it! I hope Glass Sword is great and I cannot wait to dive into it.

The last thing I bought was the Harry Potter colouring book because it was only $13. I am not a HUGE colouring fan but I will definitely colour anything Harry Potter related.

So that was my mini book haul and I hope you liked it!

My Book Buying List!

I have so many books I want and NEED to buy so here is my list!

Glass Sword by Victoria Aveyard. I really enjoyed Red Queen so I cannot wait to get my hands on this book! Yes it wasn’t all that original but it was really a great, easy read and that plot twist….

Fallen Kingdoms by Morgan Rhode is another book I need to get because it sounds like such a great fantasy book and I have heard so many great things!

Truthwitch by Susan Dennard is another fantasy book I would love to read. The concept is so unique and fantastic that I want to read about it.

Oppositon by Jennifer L Armentrout is the final book in the Lux series which is one of my new favourite series and after finishing Origin last night I NEED to read the last book and finds out what happens like now.

Stars Above by Marissa Meyer is a bunch of short stories that take place after the Lunar Chronicles which by the way is an amazing series so go read it. After reading Winter, the last book in the series, I am really excited to see how the characters are after the war and everything.

Shadowhunter Academy by Cassandra Clare and a few other authors is about Simon after he becomes a Shadowhunter and I am pretty sure you can tell he goes to Shadowhunter Academy. This isn’t exactly a book series because it is a whole bunch of novellas but I heard they get really great and besides, I would like to see the characters again and Simon is just a great, funny character.

Okay! So that is all for today and I will be back with another post tomorrow 🙂

February TBR + New Releases!

My February TBR originally started out very packed but I managed to narrow it down to three books that I really have been wanting to read.

So the first to books I have planned are Opal and Origin by Jennifer L. Armentrout. They are the third and fourth book of the amazing Lux series which is about a girl named Katy moving next door to an alien…I will go into a more depth review in my next post which will be my January Wrap Up!

The last book I would like to get to is Passengers by Alexandra Bracken. I started this book in the middle of January but I got side tracked and began reading the Lux series. From what I have read so far of it (I am 200 pages in) it is really interesting and different from all the other books I read so I cannot wait to jump right back into the book and finish it.

Now for the New Releases portion of this blog! So there are two books I am ecstatic to get my hands on this month and they are Glass Sword by Victoria Aveyard which is the second book in the Red Queen series which I found really entertaining. Yes, it may have not been the most original series but I really enjoyed reading it and learning about the world. And can we just talk about that plot twist? That killed me. Anyway the next book I am anticipating for this month is Stars Above by Marissa Meyer! Stars Above is a collection of short stories about the Lunar Chronicles series! I won’t really explain the series because I will be talking about it more in my next blog post!

Anyway, that is all I have for now and I will be back with another post soon!
