The Hamilton Book Tag!

If you somehow do not know what Hamilton is…it is basically an epic musical based on the life and events of Alexander Hamilton. I am not even American, yet I absolutely love the songs from this musical, and the whole history behind them. Since I love Hamilton so much, as well as books, I thought this would the perfect tag to do! (P.S. I am not sure who created this tag, but if you do know definitely let me know!)

The Room Where It Happens – Pick a Book World That You Would Put Yourself In

Ok, so for this literally everyone has said Harry Potter, because who wouldn’t want to live in a world where magic exists? Of course that would be my answer, but I decided to be a little more original and not officially choose that. So, my answer is the Percy Jackson world from Percy Jackson and the Olympians by Rick Riordan. I chose this because I would love to be the child of some all powerful god or goddess, and also have some fighting skills as well.

The Schulyer Sisters – Share a Female Character That You Think is Underrated

I definitely have to go with Hermione Granger from the Harry Potter series by JK Rowling. Hermione is such an intelligent person, yet she doesn’t get enough credit for it. Especially by Snape, who literally calls her a snobby know-it-all, just because she knows the answers to his questions. I think that Ron and Harry also took her a little for granted and some points, and while there were moments Hermione did show some girl power, I wish there were more scenes like that!

My Shot – Pick a Character That Goes After What They Want

Emma Carstairs from Lady Midnight by Cassandra Clare! I think Emma is a very strong and independent character, which I really appreciate. Emma definitely goes after what she wants no matter the consequences, and takes nothing from nobody because she knows she could easily destroy them with a flick of her sword, Cortana.

Stay Alive – Pick a Character You Wish Was Still Alive

Hahahaha, if you have not finished watching season 8 of the Vampire Diaries (yes, I am using a TV show for this question, but it is also a book so…) then DO NOT READ BELOW!

For this I have to go with Stefan Salvatore because really? You really have to go and kill off a great guy who just tries to keep the ones he loves alive? Ugh, I cried a lot because of his death. It was just so sad to think that not only is he never really going to see Elena again after her being half dead for a few years, but he is also not going to see Caroline, Damon, Bonnie and really anyone again. The thought of this is absolutely heart breaking.

Burn – The Most Devastating End To A Relationship You Read About

Champion by Marie Lu…if you have read it you know what I am talking about.

You’ll Be Back – The Sassiest Villain You Have Read In A Book

Again! I have to use The Vampire Diaries because oh my gosh, Katherine and Kai were the most sassiest and best villains I have ever watched unfold on the screen. I mean yeah, they were awful people, but they were never dull or boring.

The Reynolds Pamphlet – A Book With a Twist That You Didn’t See Coming

I don’t like being spoiled on twists that happen in books so I am just not going to answer this one!

Non Stop – Pick A Series That You Marathoned

I have marathoned many, many series so I am just going to a list a few. Percy Jackson and the Olympians and the Heroes of Olympus by Rick Riordan, The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare, Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead, Harry Potter by JK Rowling…The list goes on and on.

Satisfied – Pick Out Your Favourite Book With Multi POV

I can definitely tell you which book that I did not appreciate it having multiple POVs, and that was The 5th Wave by Rick Yancy. But for a book that I did enjoy that had mutli POV would probably be The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare because I always love Cassandra Clare’s main characters. They are just so fun and diverse and I always enjoying reading in their different perspectives.

Who Lives Who Dies Who Tells Your Story – Pick A Book That YOU Think Will Go Down In History

This time I am just going to go with the obvious choice, and that is Harry Potter by JK Rowling because it still has a massive impact on not only readers, but society today and it was written in the early 90’s! I think Harry Potter will not fade for a long, long, long time and I am glad because it truly is a fantastic series.

Those are my answers for the Hamilton Book Tag and I tag anyone who has the desire to do it!

November Book Haul

I know that there is still 13 days left of November but honestly, I am not planning on buying ANYMORE books because Christmas is right around the corner. Anyways, here are the books that I purchased this month!

Hammer of Thor By Rick Riordan – I wasn’t planning on purchasing Rick Riordan’s new book until December but I ended up finding it on sale so I just had to get it! I really enjoyed the plot and characters in the first book, Sword of Summer and excited to continue on with this Norse mythology filled world, because who doesn’t love mythology?

Silver Linings by Matthew Quick – I never really indented to buy this book but when I found it for less than a dollar I honestly couldn’t turn that down. I am glad that I bought this book because it deals with mental illness and it is important to have books about different struggles such as mental illness on your shelf. I also have heard great things about this novel and the movie so I am hoping to get to it sometime soon!

Night Film by Marisha Pessl – Again, I found this book for super cheap and I have heard good things about this mystery novel and even though I haven’t read much mystery I am really excited to try it out! This book is also very unique because it is told in multimedia formats which I love, and wish books had more of!

Confessions of a Shopaholic by Sophie Kinsella – At the beginning of the month, I went to this awesome used book sale and scored a TON of books for cheap and this was one of them! I have heard about this book a lot on social media and also I have seen the movie around so I am happy to finally have my hands on it!

Across the Universe by Beth Revis – I also got this at the book sale, and even though I don’t really know what it is about, the cover was just really pretty…I do know that it is a sci-fi novel and after reading the back I got really excited to read it! I don’t know when I will get to it because of my growing TBR but hopefully I will get to it sometime next year.

Champion by Marie Lu – I have read this entire trilogy, but do not own any of the other books besides Champion now. Eventually I will collect the rest of the series but for now I could only find the last book for a decent price so… yeah. I really liked the Legend trilogy but I would have to say the last book is my least favourite but I am still happy to own it!

Spirit Bound by Richelle Mead – I think for the past 4 months I have been slowly collecting the Vampire Academy series and I finally found the 5th book at a used book store and I was so happy! Now I just need to keep an eye out for the final book and I will have the complete set. I adore the Vampire Academy series, it is fun, thrilling and amazing and cannot wait to give it a re read sometime soon.

A Novelist’s Commonplace Book by Michael Crawley – I always wanted to own a writing book rather than always boring them from the library, and I was super excited to finally have one…until I opened it up and realized it is mainly just a book about different verbs and techniques. I still find it helpful but it is more of a handbook than the craft type of book I was hoping for.

I bought so many books this month but I am pretty sure all 8 of them only cost me $20 altogether which is awesome. Anyways, I hope you enjoyed this blog post and don’t forget to check out my last one: Reading and Writing Goals!

July and BookTube-A-Thon Wrap Up 2016!!!

July was an AWESOME reading month for me because I read 10 books! The reason I read so many was partly because of BookTube-A-Thon but also because I just flew through every book I read. Since I read so many books I won’t give a description of them just because this would be a super long blog post…anyways I hope you had an amazing reading month too!

Last Sacrifice by Richelle Mead was the first book I finished this month and it happened to be the last book in the Vampire Academy series. I was and still am so sad to finish this series but I really enjoyed the finale and I thought it tied up all the loose ends! Vampire Academy was such a fun and amazing series and I am so happy I read it! 4.5/5 stars.

Prodigy by Marie Lu was the second book in the Legend trilogy and I really liked this book! The Legend series isn’t my absolute favourite series, but I do enjoy reading it and I think they are really interesting. Anyways, this is my favourite book out of the three and I loved so many parts of this book! 4.5/5 stars.

Unite Me by Tahereh Mafi is a bind up of two novellas from the Shatter Me world and I just flew through this short book. I really, really loved reading from Warner’s point of view because he is definitely one of my favourite characters and I enjoyed learning more about him! I also liked reading from Adam’s point of view because it reminded me of how much I disliked him…4/5 stars.

Since You’ve Been Gone by Morgan Matson…I had wanted to read a Morgan Matson book for soooo long and I am so happy that I picked this one up first because let me tell you, it did not disappoint me. I absolutely adored every second of this book! It was fast paced, entertaining, and had a great, complex cast of characters that I loved. I couldn’t ask for a better summer contemporary book! 4.5/5 stars.

Saint Anything by Sarah Dessen is a book I had been putting off for a while but I really don’t know why because it was such a great book. Again, I flew through this easy contemporary and loved every second of it! It felt so real and relatable and I felt a roller coaster of emotions while reading it. Definitely recommend this and Since You’ve Been Gone if you are look for an awesome contemporary! 4.5/5 stars.

Amy and Roger’s Epic Detour by Morgan Matson was the first book I read for BookTube-A-Thon and I was really pumped to read another Morgan Matson book but it didn’t exactly reach my expectations which I admit, were a bit high after reading Since You’ve Been Gone. I still really enjoyed this book, but I just found it a little slower and I found the main character a bit annoying at times. I understand why though. It was still a good read and a good book to start my BookTube-A-Thon with though! 3.5/5 stars!

Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone by JK Rowling was the second book I read for BookTube-A-Thon and I absolutely loved diving back into the Harry Potter world! It was as magical and fun as always and I was definitely not disappointed. I decided to read a Harry Potter book a month so I am also very excited to continue staying in this amazing world. 5/5 stars.

Champion by Marie Lu was the third book I read for BookTube-A-Thon and while it was a bit slow during the first 100 pages that last 200 plus pages really pulled through and I was glued to the story! I thought it was a great ending that I was satisfied with but that ending still broke me into a million tiny pieces and then glued themselves back messily, but still together…4.5/5 stars.

Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan was the fourth and final book that I finished during the BookTube-A-Thon and again, like Harry Potter, it was so great jumping back into this crazy world. I am definitely hoping to be able to continue re reading the rest of the series soon! 4/5 stars.

Everything Everything by Nicola Yoon…I actually finished this book about half an hour ago and when I say I flew through this book I actually flew through it. I think I read this book in 2 hours because I just found myself continuing the flip to the next page because I really wanted to know how this story was going to end. There were so many different endings and I definitely did not expect it to end like this. I loved it though! Such a cute, amazing, and sad book that you need to read! 4.5/5 stars.

That concludes my massive July wrap up and I hope you liked it! Keep an eye out for my August TBR coming soon!

BookTube-A-Thon Reading Wrap Up!

Today is the last day of the BookTube-A-Thon and I am very happy to say I completed all of the books I planned on reading! BookTube-A-Thon was very fun and exciting and I really enjoyed participating in it this year and will without a doubt be participating next year! I won’t be going into full detail about what these books are about but if you are interested then check out my BookTube-A-Thon TBR 2016 post.

Amy and Roger’s Epic Detour by Morgan Matson – This was the first book I completed for challenge #1: Read a book with yellow on the cover. I really enjoy all of Morgan Matson’s books so it was fun reading this one! I am glad I chose to read this book first because it was a really easy read that set me in the mood for more reading! 4/5 stars.

Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone by JK Rowling – It was so good diving back into the Harry Potter world! I flew through this book like always and loved every single second of it. I used this book for 3 challenges and they were challenge #2: Read a book after sunset, challenge #5: Read a book that is older than you, and challenge #6: Read and watch a book-to-movie adaptation. I also really loved reading the book and than rewatching the movie so that just made completing this book so much more fun! 5/5 stars.

Champion by Marie Lu – I read this book for challenge #3: Read a book you discovered through BookTube because I first heard about the Legend trilogy over BookTube. I really liked this book, but it was a bit slower than the first 2 books in the trilogy. I still flew through and overall I really enjoyed the series! 4/5 stars.

Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan – I completed this book for challenge #4: Read a book by one of your favourite authors. I absolutely loved re reading this book! It was easy and so much fun and it didn’t even feel like I’ve read it a couple million times… Anyways, of course I loved this book and I am so happy I decided to read it again! 4.5/stars.

Those are all the books I read during the BookTube-A-Thon! I would have chosen and read more but I went camping for the last 3 days so I decided to just read 4 books. Hope you liked it!

Reading Update!

Since it is BookTube-A-Thon I decided it would be a good time to do  a reading update! I am currently on page 276/369 in Champion by Marie Lu and while it is a bit slower than her first two books in this series I am still really enjoying it! Last night I finished Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone by JK Rowling and it was so good being back in the Harry Potter world! Today I am planning on finishing up Champion and then starting my fourth and final book Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan. The reason I am only planning on reading 4 books is because I will be camping from Friday-Sunday so I won’t have really any time to complete anymore books…oh well I am happy with what I have done so far and it has been fun!

Anyways I hope you enjoyed this little reading update and if you are participating in the BookTube-A-Thon then keep reading! 🙂

BookTube-A-Thon TBR 2016

Today is the first day of the BookTube-A-Thon, and while I don’t have a YouTube channel I am still going to try and complete the reading challenges. I will also be participating in the Instagram challenges and Twitter sprints so I am very excited for those as well! So yeah, here are the books I will be reading this week!

Challenge #1 – Read a book with yellow on the cover – For this challenge I will be reading Amy and Roger’s Epic Detour by Morgan Matson because I want to read another Morgan Matson book and this one had yellow on the cover so it worked out. This book is about a girl named Amy who’s father recently died so her and her family move  from California to Connecticut to have a fresh start. To get there though, she has to go on a four day road trip with an old family friend named Roger who has a past of his own. So far I am really liking this book and I can’t wait to finish it!

Challenge #2 – Read a book after sunset – I will be reading Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone by JK Rowling for this challenge and I am SO excited to be re reading this book. I just love the feeling when I read Harry Potter so I am glad I have an excuse to pick it up again.

Challenge #3 – Read a book you discovered through BookTube – For this one, I will be reading Champion by Marie Lu because I did hear about the Legend trilogy through BookTube and since I need to read the last book I decided to add it in here! If you didn’t know, the Legend series takes place in a futuristic version of the USA called the Republic, and the story follows a boy named Day who is a convicted criminal and a girl named June who is beloved by the Republic. When June’s brother is killed one day, all signs point to Day so she goes on a mission to hunt him down. When she does find him, she realizes he may not be the criminal everyone says he is, and he shows her the Republic isn’t as trustworthy and great as she thought it was.

Challenge #4 – Read a book by a favourite author of yours – I will be reading Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan for this challenge, because he is definitely one of my favourite authors. The Percy Jackson series was one of the first series I read so I have a sentimental love for it. That and his books are so much fun to read. Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief is about a boy named Percy who discovers that he is a demigod which means he is half human half Greek God. Because of this, he is escorted to a “safe haven” for demigods called Camp Half Blood but immediately finds out he is being convicted of stealing Zeus’s Master Bolt. So he and 2 other friends go on a quest to find out who actually stole it and clear Percy’s name.

Challenge #5 – Read a book that is older than you – Since you can combine challenges I will be combining this challenge with number 3 and 6 so I will be reading Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone since it is older than me.

Challenge #6 – Read and watch a book-to-movie adaptation – Surprise! I will also being reading Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone for this challenge.

Hope you enjoyed this TBR for this week, and I really hope I can get through them all!

July TBR

There is only 9 days of June left…what?! Anyways since July is around the corner I really wanted to show you guys all the AMAZING books I am planning to read next month and I am so excited! Even though Camp NaNoWriMo is going on I am planning on reading quite a few books.

(BTW I am going to start doing QOTD’s at the end of my posts now so scroll down and answer it!)

Last Sacrifice by Richelle Mead is the first book I am planning on reading in July, if it actually comes on the date I ordered it…anyways this is the sixth and final book in the Vampire Academy series that I absolutely love! This series follows Rose Hathaway and Lissa Dragomir as they try to safe from Strigoi (evil vampires) during their last few years at Vampire Academy. There is lots of action and romance in this series and its so addictive!

Prodigy by Marie Lu is the second book in the Legend trilogy. I recently finished the first book a few days ago and it was very interesting and I absolutely loved the plot line and characters so I am dying to pick up the next book! In the first book, we follow Day, a convicted criminal and June, a loyal follower of the government who is sent to hunt down Day, but when she finally does meet Day she realizes some things about the government that she thought she knew that makes her question her loyalty.

Champion by Marie Lu is the third and final book in the Legend trilogy which I am also stoked to read! Wow did I actually just say stoked? Anyways, I have heard great things about all these books and I cannot wait to…engross myself in them.

Saint Anything by Sarah Dessen is a contemporary novel that I am not exactly sure what it is about but I would like to keep it like that so I can just go in with no expectations. I have been pushing this off for the last month or two just because I got caught up with Vampire Academy but since I am almost done I will definitely be getting to it! I also heard that this book will make me cry and I love cry worthy books.

Those are all the books I am planning to read in July and I hope you guys enjoyed reading it! Don’t forget to answer the QOTD and check out my last post: Camp NaNoWriMo: Writing Inspiration!

QOTD: I have been obsessed with Hamilton lately soooo what is your current favorite song on the playlist?

AOTD: Either the Schuyler Sisters or Burn…but I also really like Satisfied and Helpless…

Legend by Marie Lu Book Review (Spoiler Free)

I recentlyLegend_Marie_Lu_Book_cover finished Legend by Marie Lu and I really enjoyed it. Don’t worry if you haven’t read this book because this is a spoiler free review but I definitely recommend you go and read this trilogy because it is so good!

If you didn’t know, Legend is about a boy named Day, who is a convicted criminal with more of a backstory then people think, and a girl named June who is highly looked up in their government. They both have two entirely different lives but when June sets out to take down Day she realizes he may not be the criminal everyone thought he was and shocking truths unravel about their government that she couldn’t even think of.

I thought this was a strong first book for this trilogy and I was satisfied with the outcome and how the story came along. Each character had their unique voice and I didn’t feel like they were blending together which is very important when you are writing a book in more than one point of view. This book totally spun a different way then what I thought and it was a really fun ride that I hope continues in the next two books! Overall I loved this book and think everyone should read it! 4.5/5 stars.
