November 2017 Wrap Up!

November was a much better reading month for me than the other past few months. I still only read a total of 4 books, all of them re reads as well, but that is double what I read in October so yay me! Hopefully December will be even better, but for now here are the books I managed to read in the month of November.

Clockwork Angel by Cassandra Clare

I realized that while I have religiously re read all of Cassandra Clare’s other books, I have never re read The Infernal Devices trilogy which is insane! So I re read the first book and forgot how much I enjoyed this time period in London and the characters. Clockwork Angel follows Tessa Gray, who after the death of her aunt sails to London to visit her brother, only to be kidnapped by two sisters who call themselves the “Dark Sisters”. Eventually she is saved by a young man who claims to be part of an ancient race of humans and angels called “Shadowhunters”, and she is tossed into their crazy, upside down world which she turns out to be more a part of then she originally thought. This Shadowhunter world that Cassandra Clare has created is so interesting and complex and I adore every book that she comes out with that is set in it, including this trilogy!

To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before, P.S. I Still Love You, and Always and Forever, Lara Jean by Jenny Han

Early in the month of November, I had been in the mood for something fun and upbeat because the days were getting darker and school was really hard. Basically I was looking for an escape, so I decided to pick up and re read one of my favourite books, To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before. This book follows a girl named Lara Jean who keeps love letters she has written to boys safe and hidden in a hatbox given to her by her mother, but one day those letters are mysteriously sent out and everything she has written in those love letters suddenly becomes reality rather than imaginary. The other two books in this series are just as quirky and fluffy as the first one, and I cannot express how much I recommend this series! Also, the movie has been filmed and will be coming out sometime in the 2018 and I absolutely cannot wait!

Those are all the books I read in the month of November, and I hope you enjoyed. Don’t forget to check out my last blog post: Reading/Writing Update!

Reading/Writing Update!

to-all-the-boys-ive-loved-before

Okay so let’s start off with some good news…I read 2 books this week! I decided I needed a break from fantasy and decided to pick up and re read To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before by Jenny Han. This is one of my favourite books, and favourite trilogies, and I picked it up because I was really in need of reading a light hearted and fluffy novel. I started it on Wednesday and since then have already finished the first two books. Now I am re reading the third and final installment and I haven’t actually re read this one yet. This will be the first re read which makes me excited because I forget what happens exactly. Anyways, I love these books and Jenny Han’s writing so I know that this was the right choice. Hopefully I will finish Always and Forever, Lara Jean today and after that I am not entirely sure what I will pick up next…but we will see!

Now for NaNoWriMo…so I am at about 18,000 words and I will sadly not be continuing with it. It has been so hard for me to not find time to write, but find the motivation to write because just after writing a few hundred words, I would feel drained. I decided it would be best for me not to continue on with NaNoWriMo, because I also do not feel like my story is “novel ready”. I need to let it mull around in my head for a bit before I write it down on paper, and honestly, I have no idea when that will be. However, I am still writing. I am still writing short stories, and even some essays which I haven’t done much for my own enjoyment. Anyways, I hope that all of your NaNoWriMo journeys are going well but if not, don’t worry because you are not alone!

That is all for my reading and writing update and I hope you enjoyed. Don’t forget to check out my last blog post: Writing Goals for

Favourite Books of 2017! (So Far)

I have read some pretty fantastic books this year so far, and since the month is half over I decided to share them with all of you. Listed below are the top 3 books that I read for the first time this year and really enjoyed so here they are!

atorchagainstthenight_cv-4-14-687x1024

A Torch Against the Night by Sabaa Tahir – I absolutely adored her first book, An Ember in the Ashes so I was so excited to pick up the second one. This is a series that mainly followed two main characters, Laia and Elias, but now also follows a few others which I thought brought a good view on the world to the readers. It is set in a kind of Roman Empire and is action packed and filled with incredible world building. A must read and I was happily pleased by this read. 4.5/5 stars

30312860

Always and Forever, Lara Jean by Jenny Han – This is a series that you cannot help but love. It is quirky and cute, and was everything I hoped for in the final book of this trilogy. This series follows a girl named Lara Jean who writes love letters to all the boys she has loved before, but one day those letters are mysteriously sent out to them and she finds her life flipped upside down. I love, love, love this series and read this book in two days because all I wanted to do was finish it and see how it ended. 4.5/5 stars

untitled

Lord of Shadows by Cassandra Clare – This is probably no surprise because I had been anticipating this book ever since I read Lady Midnight. I don’t really like explaining what the book is about, because my explanations suck considering I don’t want to spoil anything from the previous books. You do have to read most of her other books to understand some things in this story, but it is so worth it and you will be glad you did! This was definitely my favourite book of the year so far, but probably will be my favourite over all because it was that good. 5/5 stars

That is all for my favourite books of the year so far, and I hope you enjoyed. Don’t forget to check out my last blog post: Reading/Writing Update!

May 2017 Wrap Up!

I didn’t read that many books this month, and it wasn’t because I was too busy to pick up a book…I would just pick up a book but then get distracted with another book but then never finish it. Anyways, I did manage to read two books, so here they are!

30312860

Always Forever, Lara Jean by Jenny Han – This was a new release, which came out on May 2nd, and I read it in about a day. This is the third and final book in the To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before trilogy, and follows Lara Jean who after her secret love letters get mysteriously sent out, she has to deal with all the returning and new emotions that come along with that. I love every book in this trilogy, so I was not surprised that I loved this one just as much! I was completely satisfied with how Jenny Han wrapped up this trilogy, and it gave me everything I could ever ask for. 5/5 stars

the-unexpected-everything-9781481404549_hr

The Unexpected Everything by Morgan Matson – This book came out a few months ago, and was also a book I was really excited for. I love Morgan Matson’s Since You’ve Been Gone, so I had high hopes for this new Morgan Matson book. The Unexpected Everything follows teenage Andie who has her summer all planned out, that is, until her congressman father gets caught up in a political scandal and flips her plans upside down. Now she has to improvise and deal with getting her perfectly mapped out summer ruined. I enjoyed this book. It was a great light and fluffy summery contemporary that was very easy to read. I cannot say I loved it as much as Since You’ve Been Gone, but I still recommend it! 4/5 stars

Those are the two books I read this month, and I hope you enjoyed. Don’t forget to check out my last blog post: May 2017 Haul!

May 2017 Haul!

I bought quite a few books this month because there were so many fantastic releases that I just couldn’t help myself! Here are all the books that I hauled this month:

30312860

Always and Forever, Lara Jean by Jenny Han – This was a book I was highly anticipating for the year of 2017, and I was so excited to finally get it in my hands on May 2nd. Always and Forever, Lara Jean is the third and final book in the To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before trilogy, and it follows teenage Lara Jean who writes letters to all the boys she has loved before, as a way to say goodbye to them. But when those letters mysteriously get sent out, she finds herself digging a hole in order to avoid the embarrassment. I love this trilogy and I highly recommend it if you love cute, quirky and fluffy contemporaries!

30145666

The Dark Prophecy by Rick Riordan – I enjoyed the first book in this series, The Hidden Oracle, so I was definitely looking forward to reading the sequel. The first book follows the god Apollo, as he is sent down to earth as mortal and goes off to complete a quest in order to get back his immortality. This is a very humorous and fast paced story that will keep you entertained like all of Rick Riordan’s books!

Image result for Alexander hamilton book

Alexander Hamilton by Ron Chernow – This is the book that inspired Lin-Manuel Miranda to write the amazing musical, Hamilton, and being a huge fan I was ecstatic to find this book. This book tells Alexander Hamilton’s life story and follows his journey to becoming an important figure in American history. Even though I am not American, and do not learn about American history in school, I am really fascinated by the story of Alexander Hamilton!

Image result for poison study

Poison Study by Maria V Snyder – I have heard fantastic things about this book, so I am incredibly excited to jump into it. Poison Study is about a girl who has to choose between being executed or becoming the king’s poison tester, and while that is all I really know, that is enough to capture my attention! Lots of people have recommended this book to me, and I have a feeling I am going to love it.

untitled

Lord of Shadows by Cassandra Clare – Of course I was going to buy my most anticipated release of 2017, and it is also my current read. Lord of Shadows is the sequel to Lady Midnight, which follows a group of Shadowhunter’s who try to uncover the mysterious murder of Emma Carstair’s parents. This is a story that leaves you wanting more, has a fantastic cast of diverse characters, and is magical!

Those are all the books I bought this month and I hope you enjoyed. Don’t forget to check out my last blog posts: June 2017 TBR!

Reading/Writing Update!

May 2nd was the day of a whole bunch of new releases I was anticipating. There was A Court of Wings and Ruin by Sarah J Maas, The Dark Prophecy by Rick Riordan, and Always and Forever, Lara Jean by Jenny Han. I bought Always and Forever, Lara Jean, and finished it in about a day because I could not put it down! It was just as fun and quirky as I hoped, and while I am sad one of my favourite trilogies is over, I loved the finale. Next I plan on reading and finishing both The Unexpected Everything by Morgan Matson, and The Dark Prophecy by Rick Riordan. I am super excited to dive into these books and I have high hopes that I know will be met!

I didn’t do any writing this week, but I have been planning and planning for my story, and slowly I can see it piecing together in front of me. Planning has made me more excited for this project, and I cannot wait to finally be able to write it!

That is all for my reading and writing update and I hope you enjoyed. Don’t forget to check out my last blog post: Quick Writing Tips #5!

May 2017 TBR!

I didn’t read too many books in April, but I really want to read more in May because there are SO many amazing new releases coming out. This may be a little ambitious since May will be a busy month for me, but its not a true TBR without being a little too ambitious.

Always and Forever, Lara Jean by Jenny Han

30312860

I am ecstatic for Jenny Han’s new book, and final book in the To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before trilogy. It comes out tomorrow, and I plan on reading it right away! If you didn’t know, To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before follows a girl named Lara Jean who writes love letters to all the boys she has loved before, but one day, they get mysteriously sent out. This is a really fun and has a quirky romance, and if you haven’t read it you are really missing out!

Lord of Shadows by Cassandra Clare

untitled

This is definitely my most anticipated book of 2017 so once I get this book in my hands, I will be devouring it. Lord of Shadows comes out later in the month of May (sadly) and is the sequel to Lady Midnight which follows our main characters, Emma and Julian, two Shadowhunters, who with the help of their friends, try and solve the mystery of Emma’s parents mysterious deaths. I absolutely adored Lady Midnight and I have high hopes for Lord of Shadows.

White Hot Kiss by Jennifer L Armentrout

white-hot-kiss

White Hot Kiss seems like a really fast paced and enjoyable read, which I will be wanting this month, so I am excited to pick it up and give it a try. White Hot Kiss follows our main character, Layla, who wants to be a normal teenager but finds that it is hard considering her kiss kills anything with a living soul. Really excited to give this book a read, and hopefully it is as good as it sounds!

The Unexpected Everything by Morgan Matson

the-unexpected-everything-9781481404549_hr

The Unexpected Everything follows a girl named Andie who has her whole summer planned out, going to an internship for pre-med and hanging out with her amazing friends. That is, until her father, a popular congressman, gets caught up in a big political scandal and all her plans come crashing down. I am really excited to read another Morgan Matson book because I loved, Since You’ve Been Gone and I have some pretty high expectations for this one!

Those are the four, pretty hefty books I plan on reading this month and I hope you enjoyed! Don’t forget to check out my last blog post: What To Do After Camp NaNoWriMo!

May 2017 Talk!

May is filled with new releases and here are a few that I am super excited for!

Books ~

9781408857915A Court of Wings and Ruin by Sarah J Maas – This is the third book in the A Court of Thorns and Roses trilogy which is pretty fantastic by the way, so if you haven’t read the first two books…you should go do that. The first book, A Court of Thorns and Roses is loosely based upon Beauty and the Beast, and is about a girl named Feyre who while hunting for her family, kills a faerie disguised as a wolf and as punishment, is forced to live out the rest of her mortal life in the faerie lands. I am super excited to see where this third (and final?) book leads us! A Court of Wings and Ruin comes out on May 2nd.

30145666The Dark Prophecy by Rick Riordan – This is the second book in Rick Riordan’s Trials of Apollo series, which I think is a really fun and entertaining series so far. The first book, The Hidden Oracle, follows the sun god Apollo who after angering his father, Zeus, is cast down to Earth as a mortal. Apollo is a hilarious character and the first book had so many great scenes that had me laughing to the point where I had tears, so I am intrigued to see how the second book pans out. This book comes out on May 2nd.

30312860Always and Forever, Lara Jean by Jenny Han – If you have read previous blog posts of mine, you would know I am a huge fan of Jenny Han’s contemporary trilogy, To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before, so obviously the third and final book will be on here! The first book, To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before, follows our main character Lara Jean who has always written love letters to the boys she has loved before, but with no intention of them ever being seen. But when all her love letters are mysteriously sent out, she finds herself digging a deep hole of lies to prevent her current crush from knowing the truth. The first two books are very quirky and fun and I really recommend you read them before the new one comes out! This book comes out on May 2nd.

untitledLord of Shadows by Cassandra Clare – I honestly cannot wait any longer to read this book, because I just know it is going to blow me away. This is a continuation of Cassandra Clare’s Shadowhunter world, and follows Emma Carstairs who’s parents disappeared during the Dark War but one day wash up on shore, dead. Confused and upset, she struggles to uncover the truth with the help of her best friend, Julian. The first book, Lady Midnight was amazing so I have high hopes! This book comes out on May 23rd.

Movies ~

Guardians-of-the-Galaxy-Vol.-2-PosterGuardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 – I thought Guardians of the Galaxy was freaking amazing, so I cannot wait to finally see the second one. I am not very good at explaining what the movie is about, but it is a sci-fi movie that has a great soundtrack so that should be enough motivation to watch it! This movie will be in theatres on May 5th.

Diary-of-a-Wimpy-Kid-The-Long-Haul-movieDiary of a Wimpy Kid: The Long Haul – I have been reading the Diary of a Wimpy Kid books since I was a little kid, and honestly I still read them. I really enjoyed the three original movies with Zachary Gordon and Devon Bostick, so I am a little skeptical with this new one but we will see. This movie is about a middle schooler named Greg who’s family is going on road trip for his grandmother’s birthday, but really wants to attend a gaming convention that is on the way there. I don’t have super high hopes but who knows, maybe it will surprise me. This movie comes out on May 19th.

14616_posterEverything Everything – This is also based on a book by Nicola Yoon, and I really enjoyed the book so I am looking forward to the movie next month! Everything Everything is about a girl named Maddie who has been house bound her entire life because she is allergic to everything in the outside world. When a boy named Ollie moves next door though, she finds herself taking new risks and realizing that the way she is living, isn’t really a life at all. The trailer looks amazing and I think this is going to be an amazing book-to-movie adaptation. This movie is in the theatres on May 19th.

Those are all of the books and movies I am excited for next month, and I hope you enjoyed. Don’t forget to check out my last blog post: Quick Reads!

Exciting Spring 2017 Releases!

Spring is on its way so I made a list of the books I definitely want to read this spring. A lot of these are new releases I am incredibly excited for, but a few are also books that I just need to read, so here is my list and I hope you enjoy!

30312860Always and Forever, Lara Jean by Jenny Han – I am currently re reading this series in preparation for the third one and I just cannot wait any longer! The first two books in this soon-to-be contemporary trilogy are To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before and P.S. I Still Love You. To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before follows our main character Lara Jean, who’s secret love letters to all the boys she has loved before get mysteriously sent out and her world turns upside down. I cannot wait to get my hands on this book and if you haven’t read this trilogy definitely pick it up! This book comes out on May 2nd, 2017.

9781408857915A Court of Wings and Ruin by Sarah J Maas – This is the third book in the A Court of Thorns and Roses trilogy which is also AMAZING by the way, so if for some reason you haven’t picked it up, please do! The first book, A Court of Thorns and Roses is about a girl named Feyre who after killing a faerie, is dragged to the faerie realms to live out the rest of her mortal life. These books are very entertaining and steamy and are always an enjoyable read. I wouldn’t recommend anyone under the age of fourteen to read this but still, it is a great series! This book comes out on May 2nd, 2017.

30145666The Dark Prophecy by Rick Riordan – This is another sequel, and it is the sequel to The Hidden Oracle which is about the Greek god Apollo who after angering his father, Zeus, has been zapped into a mortal body. Now human, he has to learn to survive the real world and not get killed by one of his many, ancient enemies…The first book was a really run read so I am excited to see how this one plays out as well! I wouldn’t say this is my favourite Rick Riordan series, but it is still worth the read because Rick Riordan creates these amazing and sassy characters that you just can’t help but love. This book comes out on May 2nd, 2017.

untitledLord of Shadows by Cassandra Clare – Just thinking about this book gets me extremely excited for it! Lord of Shadows is the sequel to Lady Midnight which follows Emma and Julian, two shadowhunters who live in a crazy world of demons and angels. I cannot wait to get my hands on this book and I just know it is going to be fantastic! Make sure if you pick up this series you read all her other books first (The Mortal Instruments series and The Infernal Devices trilogy) because Lady Midnight has huge spoilers and also includes not too much world building, so it is smart to know the world by reading her other books. You won’t regret it though because all her books are wonderful! This book comes out on May 27th, 2017.

Those are the few releases I am extremely excited for and I hope you enjoyed! Don’t forget to check out my last blog post: Quick Writing Tips #3.

Reading and Writing Goals for 2017!

We have 22 days left of 2016 and that is just so crazy! 2016 definitely had its ups and downs but it just made me more excited for 2017. Anyways, I have some reading and writing goals for the coming year and here they are!

~Reading~

I did very well with reading this year, and manage to achieve my goal of over 50 books a few months ago, but obviously I am still reading and adding to that number! For 2017 though, I want to push myself a little more and aim to read 75 books. I think I can do it, but I am definitely going to have to pick up the pace. Even though I am extremely busy right now, and I know for a fact that that will not slow down anytime soon, I do think despite that all, I will always make enough time to read! Apart from my reading goal, there are so many new books coming out next year that I am just ecstatic for, and here are some of them:

Always and Forever, Lara Jean by Jenny Han (The 3rd book in the To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before trilogy)

Lord of Shadows by Cassandra Clare (The 2nd book in the Dark Artifices trilogy)

A Court of Wings and Ruin by Sarah J Maas (The 3rd book in the A Court of Thorns and Roses trilogy)

~Writing~

I had a decent writing year, but it was a little slow towards the end. This new year, I want to sit down and try and complete a novel. I have an idea that I am exploring at the moment, and I am really hoping I do not loose interest because I really do love this idea. Anyways, I am determined to give it my best effort to complete that. I also would like to write more short stories and enter more writing competitions. This year I did that, but I didn’t give the stories I wrote my full effort and I was kind of lazy when writing them and I do not want to send something in this new year unless I am very proud of it! I also would like to meet more writers my age. This year, I was able to attend a writer’s conference and it was an amazing experience that I am looking forward to experience again in hopefully the near future. Overall, I just really want to get more serious with my writing and do my best.

Those are my reading and writing goals for 2017 and I hope you enjoyed!
