June has gone by in a flash and July is right around the corner, so here are the books and movies I am most looking forward to!

Books:

Image result for because you love to hate me

Because You Love to Hate Me by Various Authors – Because You Love to Hate Me is an anthology and collaboration of BookTubers and authors. In it, there are thirteen villain based stories which I think will be really fun and interesting to read! Some featured authors are Victoria Schwab, Marissa Meyer, Renee Adieh…and a few other fantastic authors! It also features BookTubers such as Sasha Alsberg from abookutopia, Jesse from the JessetheReader and Zoe from ReadByZoe. I already know the stories are going to be amazing because these are some of my favourite people ever, and this anthology will be coming out on July 11th, 2017.

Movies:

Spider-Man: Homecoming – I am sure everyone has heard about this movie because it follows the amazing spider-man! Spider-man is definitely a favourite super hero of mine, and despite the many, many adaptations I never think there is enough so I am super excited to see this one! I think it is great that they have a character that actually looks like a high school student and he seems like a really awkward and relatable character. Anyways, I am really pumped to see this movie, and it will be coming to theaters on July 7th, 2017.

Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets – This is a sci-fi movie staring Cara Delevinge, that follows two characters, Valerian and Laureline who are representatives from the government who work on maintaining order within the galaxy, and while Valerian wants to pursue a more than professional relationship with his partner, Laureline, she pushes him away because of his previous history with women…I think this movie sounds really fun and action packed so I will definitely be check it out on July 21st when it is theaters!

That is all for my July 2017 Talk and I hope you enjoyed. Oh, by the way, I have decided to change my posting schedule up and bit, so instead of posting 6 days a week, I will be posting on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. I just have trouble finding the time to write six blog posts a week, and having them be decent as well, so I decided to cut down the posting amount so I can put more effort into creating quality blog posts!

Writing Craft Book TBR!

I took out a LOT of craft books this past weekend, so I decided to share the titles with you guys in hopes that you check one of them out! Craft books are a great way to better your writing skills, and I always finish one feeling more confident with my writing style.

Image result for zen in the art of writing

Zen in the Art of Writing by Ray Brabury – This is a very famous craft book that I have heard a lot about, so I decided to pick it up and give it a read. This craft book consists of eleven essays on the pleasures of writing from the one and only, Ray Bradbury. In this book, Bradbury shares what he learned from his writing career, and shares his enthusiasm for writing.

How to Write Dazzling Dialogue: The Fasted Way to Improve a Manuscript by James Scott Bell – I don’t feel the most confident in my dialogue, so I decided to take a book out on it to get better. This book obviously focuses on dialogue and how to make what you characters say more authentic and real. It is so important to have strong, realistic dialogue otherwise the conversations between your characters fall flat!

Image result for a writer's coach by jack hart

A Writer’s Coach: A Guide to Words that Work by Jack Hart – There is no particular reason I picked up this book, but I haven’t read this book yet so I thought I would give it a shot! You take away something valuable from every craft book, which is why I take advantage of everyone I see and read it.

Image result for story engineering by larry brooks

Story Engineering by Larry Brook – I have read another Larry Brooks craft book called, Story Physics, and really enjoyed it so I thought I would try this one! I really enjoy how Larry Brooks presents his writing tips and tricks in his books, because it is very easy to find and then write down. I like to write down anything I find useful or interesting in craft books, and this is one that I had pages of ideas on!

Image result for story genius lisa cron

Story Genius by Lisa Cron – Again, I saw this book and haven’t read it so I just had to pick it up. I flipped through this book a bit, and already saw some interesting topics in the table of contents. When looking for a writing book you should flip to the table of contents and check out what they will be talking about, because that is how you know that it covers topics that are relevant to you!

That is all for my Writing Craft Book TBR and I hoped you enjoyed!

Summer 2017 Reading List!

There are quite a few books I want to get to this summer, and I am really excited to have some time to dive into them! Even though I never stick to any reading lists I make, I do enjoy making them and I am waiting for the day that I do actually follow it!

30145666

The Dark Prophecy by Rick Riordan – This book is the sequel to The Hidden Oracle, which follows the god, Apollo, as he is cast down to earth as a mortal. This is a really fast paced and funny series, and I know I will enjoy it! I have started it, and I am a little over fifty pages in, but I got distracted by other books so I will need to pick it back up soon. I love Rick Riordan’s books so I am excited to continue loving them!

Image result for the mortal instruments series

The Mortal Instruments series by Cassandra Clare – Yes, that is right. I plan on reading the entire Mortal Instruments series this summer and I am so excited. Of course I have already read the series, as I talk about it a lot on my blog, but I love to re read it so why not since I have some time? The first book, City of Bones, follows a girl named Clary Fray whose mother goes missing and on her journey to find her, she uncovers the mysteries of her life and realizes her mother may have not been honest with her about who she truly is. This book has demons and angels, and amazingly sarcastic characters that you can’t help but fall in love with!

themoonandmore

The Moon and More by Sarah Dessen – I do have a lot of things planned this summer, so I need a quick, easy contemporary. Straight away I went for Sarah Dessen because her books are perfect for the summer! Plus, I feel like the summer is incomplete without a good contemporary or two. The Moon and More follows Emaline, who is spending her last summer before college in her small, home town, Colby. While working for her family’s rental business, she meets a city boy who is someone she would never have gone for, but she suddenly feels herself drawn to him. I love Sarah Dessen books so I am excited to try this one out!

thesummeriturnedpretty

The Summer I Turned Pretty by Jenny Han – Yep! Another contemporary by another favourite contemporary author of mine, Jenny Han. The Summer I Turned Pretty is a really fun and light-hearted book that follows our main character, Belly, who is returning to her mom’s best friend’s beach house after a few years. There, she sees the two boys she spent her childhood with and all three realize how much they had grown up. This is a great beach read and something you can finish in no time!

Is this slightly ambitious for my crazy summer? Yes, completely…but I am really excited to see how many of these books I can read! There are a few readathons I want to participate in, so hopefully that will help me get through the a little quicker. Anyways, that is all for my Summer 2017 Reading List and I hope you enjoyed. June 2017 TBR

June is the final month of school for me, and luckily I have no big exams this coming from month so I do plan to do lots of reading!

untitled

Lord of Shadows by Cassandra Clare – I am currently reading this book, but it is massive that it is taking me a while to get through it. If you didn’t know, Lord of Shadows is the sequel to Lady Midnight, which follows a group of Shadowhunters who are trying to figure out the murder of Emma Carstair’s parents’ death. This was my favourite book of 2016, so I am super excited to continue reading the sequel because I am already loving it!

SaintAnything

Saint Anything by Sarah Dessen – I love the vibe I get when I read this book so I am planning to read it the last week of school. Saint Anything is about a girl named Sydney who has spent her whole life out of the spotlight, but when her brother, Peyton, does something that puts the whole family front and centre, she realizes she can’t escape it. This is a really fun, light and summery contemporary that I cannot wait to re read!

30145666

The Dark Prophecy by Rick Riordan – I started reading in May, but I got distracted with Lord of Shadows by Cassandra Clare so I never finished it. The Dark Prophecy is the sequel to The Hidden Oracle, and follows the god Apollo as he is cast down to earth as a mortal. This is a very funny and fast paced series that I cannot wait to continue on with.

white-hot-kiss

White Hot Kiss by Jennifer L Armentrout – I suspect that this will be a really fast paced, easy read as most of Jennifer L Armentrout’s books are, so I am excited to get to it later this month. I know this book deals with supernatural creatures and that is all I really want to know about it. I like to go into books like this without a clue what is going on, just to be pleasantly surprised.

Those are all the books I plan on reading in the month of June, and I hope you enjoyed. Don’t forget to check out my last blog post: Reading/Writing Update!

Spring/Summer 2017 TBR!

Okay, so I have a lot of books on my shelf, as well as books coming out, that I want to read with absolutely no time. I am sure a lot of you can relate, so here are all the books I want to and need to finish before the end of the summer!

The Unexpected Everything by Morgan Matson

the-unexpected-everything-9781481404549_hr

This book is about a girl named Andie who has her whole summer planned out. She has a great internship lined up, a great group of friends, and is ready to for a quick summer romance…as long as it is no more than three weeks. But when her congressman father gets caught up in a political scandal, she finds her summer flipped upside down and her organized summer becomes an insane mess. I am currently reading this book, but I have been distracted by all these new releases that it keeps getting pushed back. I am determined to finish it very soon though!

Tales from the Shadowhunter Academy by Cassandra Clare

talesfromtheshadowhunteracademy

This is a book a bind up of novellas written in Simon Lewis’s POV, and follow him on his journey through the Shadowhunter Academy as he sets out to become a Shadowhunter. I started this earlier this year, but again, I just got distracted by other books and never got around to finishing it.

The Moon and More by Sarah Dessen

themoonandmore

The Moon and More follows our main character, Emaline, who is entering the summer before college, and during this last summer, she meets a city boy named Theo. Theo isn’t the typical boy she would like, but she can’t help but feel drawn to him in this summer contemporary. I love Sarah Dessen books, so I know I will eventually read it this summer, it has just been sitting on my shelf for a while.

A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J Maas

courtofmistandfury

A Court of Mist and Fury is the sequel to A Court of Thorns and Roses, which follows Feyre, a girl who while hunting for her family shoots and kills a wolf. The only thing is, the wolf turns out to be a faerie, and she forced to make the decision to die or live out the rest of her mortal life in the faerie world. She chooses to leave for the faerie world, and realizes it is not anything like she believed. I devoured the first book, but this book is quite chunky so I am going to need a little motivation to tackle it, and a lot of time.

Crooked Kingdom by Leigh Bardugo

la-et-crooked-kingdom-20160222

This is the sequel to Six of Crows, which follows a group of misfits who attempt an impossible, suicidal mission. Yet, none of them have anything to lose, and the reward is too good to pass up, leading to a quest of insanity. I enjoyed the first book, but I definitely need to give it a re read because I am a little hazy on the details.

Those are a few books that I NEED to finish before the fall, and before school starts back up again. I have high hopes to get them done, but there are also a lot of amazing books coming out so we shall see. Don’t forget to check out my last blog post: Reading/Writing Update!

May 2017 TBR!

I didn’t read too many books in April, but I really want to read more in May because there are SO many amazing new releases coming out. This may be a little ambitious since May will be a busy month for me, but its not a true TBR without being a little too ambitious.

Always and Forever, Lara Jean by Jenny Han

30312860

I am ecstatic for Jenny Han’s new book, and final book in the To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before trilogy. It comes out tomorrow, and I plan on reading it right away! If you didn’t know, To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before follows a girl named Lara Jean who writes love letters to all the boys she has loved before, but one day, they get mysteriously sent out. This is a really fun and has a quirky romance, and if you haven’t read it you are really missing out!

Lord of Shadows by Cassandra Clare

untitled

This is definitely my most anticipated book of 2017 so once I get this book in my hands, I will be devouring it. Lord of Shadows comes out later in the month of May (sadly) and is the sequel to Lady Midnight which follows our main characters, Emma and Julian, two Shadowhunters, who with the help of their friends, try and solve the mystery of Emma’s parents mysterious deaths. I absolutely adored Lady Midnight and I have high hopes for Lord of Shadows.

White Hot Kiss by Jennifer L Armentrout

white-hot-kiss

White Hot Kiss seems like a really fast paced and enjoyable read, which I will be wanting this month, so I am excited to pick it up and give it a try. White Hot Kiss follows our main character, Layla, who wants to be a normal teenager but finds that it is hard considering her kiss kills anything with a living soul. Really excited to give this book a read, and hopefully it is as good as it sounds!

The Unexpected Everything by Morgan Matson

the-unexpected-everything-9781481404549_hr

The Unexpected Everything follows a girl named Andie who has her whole summer planned out, going to an internship for pre-med and hanging out with her amazing friends. That is, until her father, a popular congressman, gets caught up in a big political scandal and all her plans come crashing down. I am really excited to read another Morgan Matson book because I loved, Since You’ve Been Gone and I have some pretty high expectations for this one!

Those are the four, pretty hefty books I plan on reading this month and I hope you enjoyed! Don’t forget to check out my last blog post: What To Do After Camp NaNoWriMo!

April 2017 TBR!

March was a good reading month, but I am hoping that April will be even better because there are a whole bunch of books coming out in May that I need to be prepared for and April is the month to do that.

lady-midnight-by-cassandra-clareLady Midnight by Cassandra Clare – The sequel to this fantastic book, Lord of Shadows, is coming out later in May so I have to re read this book to be ready for it. Lady Midnight follows a Shadowhunter (half human, half angel) named Emma Carstairs, who after her parents dead bodies wash up on shore, is determined to discover what happened. There is lots of twists and turns and heart break and I absolutely CANNOT wait to devour it once again. If you are thinking about reading this book, make sure you read Cassandra Clare’s other books series first, The Mortal Instruments and The Infernal Devices because it is necessary for this book!

courtofmistandfuryA Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J Maas – I always say I am going to finally finish this book but then never do…but this time I mean it! I am going to finally complete this book in preparation for the next book in the series, which also comes out in May. A Court of Mist and Fury is the sequel to A Court of Thorns and Roses, which follows a girl named Feyre, who after killing a Faerie, is forced to live out the rest of her mortal life in the faerie realms. This is an epic book series that has lots of action and swoony romance. I am so excited to FINALLY finish it and not have it as a weight on my shoulders.

hp7Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows by JK Rowling – I have been in the Harry Potter mood lately, and I recently re read the first six books so why not also re read the seventh. IF YOU DIDN’T KNOW, Harry Potter is about a boy who discovers he is a wizard and is sent off to a boarding school of magic. This is an amazing book series, and I haven’t read the last book in so long so I am excited to refresh my mind!

pj3Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Titan’s Curse (graphic novel) by Rick Riordan – I recently purchased this graphic novel, my first graphic novel, and am so excited to read it! I love Percy Jackson, and flipping through this graphic novel I realized that the illustrations are gorgeous. If you didn’t know, the Percy Jackson series is about a boy named Percy Jackson who discovers his father is a Greek God and is immediately thrust into a crazy world of demigods, gods and monsters. This is the third book in the series and I highly recommend it over all!

Those are all the books I am planning on reading in April and I hope you enjoyed. Don’t forget to check out my last blog post: April 2017 Talk!

Spring Break 2017 TBR!

Spring break is coming up which means I have a week and a bit of freedom from studying and all things school related, meaning more time for reading! I have a few books I want to finish before school starts back up again, and hopefully, I can get them done.

lockandkeyLock and Key by Sarah Dessen – I have been slowly getting through this book while reading others so I am not too far in, but can easily finish this before the end of spring break. Lock and Key follows our main character Ruby, who after living for a few months on her own, is forced to move in with her older sister, Cora and her husband, Jamie. She is suddenly thrust into  world of expensive living, expensive clothing and expensive dining which also includes a mysterious boy next door named, Nate. I have heard mixed reviews on this book but I am still excited to read it!

Ruby RedRuby Red by Kerstin Gier – I absolutely love the Ruby Red trilogy and really want to slowly re read it over the few months. Ruby Red is about a girl named Gwen who is born into a family of time travellers, but her family believes the gene passed her and instead was given to her cousin, Charlotte. That is until Gwen travels back in time. This is a really fun and easy trilogy and I just cannot wait to get it back into my hands.

shiver1Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater – I recently purchased this entire trilogy and because of that, I am really hoping I enjoy it. From what I have gathered, Shiver follows a girl named Grace who has watched the wolves in the woods for years, and finds herself drawn one in particular yellow eyed one… I am honestly not really sure what else the book is about, but I that synopsis intrigues me so hopefully it is as good as I think.

Those are a few books I plan on reading during my spring break and I hope you enjoyed. Don’t forget to check out my last blog post: Camp NaNoWriMo Prep #2!

Exciting Spring 2017 Releases!

Spring is on its way so I made a list of the books I definitely want to read this spring. A lot of these are new releases I am incredibly excited for, but a few are also books that I just need to read, so here is my list and I hope you enjoy!

30312860Always and Forever, Lara Jean by Jenny Han – I am currently re reading this series in preparation for the third one and I just cannot wait any longer! The first two books in this soon-to-be contemporary trilogy are To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before and P.S. I Still Love You. To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before follows our main character Lara Jean, who’s secret love letters to all the boys she has loved before get mysteriously sent out and her world turns upside down. I cannot wait to get my hands on this book and if you haven’t read this trilogy definitely pick it up! This book comes out on May 2nd, 2017.

9781408857915A Court of Wings and Ruin by Sarah J Maas – This is the third book in the A Court of Thorns and Roses trilogy which is also AMAZING by the way, so if for some reason you haven’t picked it up, please do! The first book, A Court of Thorns and Roses is about a girl named Feyre who after killing a faerie, is dragged to the faerie realms to live out the rest of her mortal life. These books are very entertaining and steamy and are always an enjoyable read. I wouldn’t recommend anyone under the age of fourteen to read this but still, it is a great series! This book comes out on May 2nd, 2017.

30145666The Dark Prophecy by Rick Riordan – This is another sequel, and it is the sequel to The Hidden Oracle which is about the Greek god Apollo who after angering his father, Zeus, has been zapped into a mortal body. Now human, he has to learn to survive the real world and not get killed by one of his many, ancient enemies…The first book was a really run read so I am excited to see how this one plays out as well! I wouldn’t say this is my favourite Rick Riordan series, but it is still worth the read because Rick Riordan creates these amazing and sassy characters that you just can’t help but love. This book comes out on May 2nd, 2017.

untitledLord of Shadows by Cassandra Clare – Just thinking about this book gets me extremely excited for it! Lord of Shadows is the sequel to Lady Midnight which follows Emma and Julian, two shadowhunters who live in a crazy world of demons and angels. I cannot wait to get my hands on this book and I just know it is going to be fantastic! Make sure if you pick up this series you read all her other books first (The Mortal Instruments series and The Infernal Devices trilogy) because Lady Midnight has huge spoilers and also includes not too much world building, so it is smart to know the world by reading her other books. You won’t regret it though because all her books are wonderful! This book comes out on May 27th, 2017.

Those are the few releases I am extremely excited for and I hope you enjoyed! Don’t forget to check out my last blog post: Quick Writing Tips #3.

March 2017 TBR!

March is right around the corner and I am ready to kick the month of with some epic books!

lady-midnight-by-cassandra-clareLady Midnight by Cassandra Clare – is the first book in Cassandra Clare’s new trilogy, the Dark Artifices that came out last year. Now the new one, Lord of Shadows is coming out May 23rd and I am SO excited! Lady Midnight is such an epic, action packed story that will make your heart throb with feelings. It follows our main characters, two teenage shadowhunters named Emma and Julian who live in a world filled with demons and magic… and that is really all I can say without spoiling the rest of books but trust me, its amazing.

p-s-i-still-love-you-jenny-han-coverP.S. I Still Love You by Jenny Han – I re read the first book in this series, To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before, and just have to pick up the next one! To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before is about a girl named Lara Jean who writes love letters to all the boys she has loved before, but when they are mysteriously sent out she finds herself digging a hole of lies to prevent the boy she likes from finding out she loves him. P.S. I Still Love You is a continuation of that and I am so happy to be reading it again. Also, the final book in the trilogy comes out in April so I am preparing myself for that because it is going to be amazing.

hammer-of-thor-cover-riordan-698x1024The Hammer of Thor by Rick Riordan – I was going to try and read this book in February but it didn’t work out so here I am again. I love Rick Riordan’s books and his Norse mythology based new series is really interesting and hilarious so I am super excited to read the second book! The first book, The Sword of Summer, is about a boy named Magnus Chase who is suddenly thrust into a world filled with Norse gods as he sets off on a quest to search the Nine Worlds for a weapon that has been lost for thousands of years. All of Rick Riordan’s books are a really fun and entertaining journey so I have no doubt I will love this book.

courtofmistandfuryA Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J Maas – I am already half way through this MASSIVE book but for some reason I put it down a few months ago and never picked it back up. This is the second book to A Court of Thorns and Roses which follows our main character Feyre who after killing a Faerie, is given the choice of death or living out the rest of her mortal life in the land of the Fey. I love all the action and the characters in this book, and while I would only recommend it for anyone over the age of fourteen…it is still a must read!

Those are the books I plan on reading this month and I hope you enjoyed. Don’t forget to check out my last blog post: Reading Update!
