Summer Biannual Bibliothon Day 2 – Favourite Summer Books!

Hello! Happy day 2 of the summer Biannual Bibliothon. I hope you are getting lots of reading in, but most importantly are having fun. Today’s challenge is brought to us by @ArtemisStarlite, and they have given us the challenge to talk about some of our favourite summer reads, so that is what I am here to do!

Summer is the perfect time to just read, read, and read. While I love enjoying new books, I also love diving back into some of my old favourites during this lovely time of the year. I decided to come up with a list of my top five favourite summer reads. Each one reminds me of summer in a different way. Maybe because it takes place during the summer, or because it is a light and fluffy novel that one usually picks up during the summer. But without further ado, here are my summer reads!

I See London, I See France by Sarah Mlynowski

This book follows two friends, Sydney and Layla, who travel to Europe together after the sudden breakup of our main character’s best friend, Layla and her boyfriend. However, along the way they run into her ex, and his very mysterious and attractive friend who Sydney can’t help but fall for. This is a fun and light hearted book that definitely gave me the travel bug, which is why I enjoy it so much. It is the perfect read for at the pool, just to lounge in the sun with and read about this adventure.

Since You’ve Been Gone by Morgan Matson

This is another contemporary that focuses around two friends, however in this one, our main character, Emily’s best friend named Sloane suddenly disappears, leaving behind a summer bucket list for Emily. Emily hurries to complete it in the hope that it will lead her to Sloane, along the way, making new friends and experiencing new adventures. I always pick this book up in the summer, and I am excited to give it another read soon! It gives me all the warm feels, and I love how I can sit down and finish it in just a matter of hours.

The Mortal Instruments series by Cassandra Clare

Summer is also the perfect time to go back to some of my favourite series, because of the mounds of time I have. One of those series is The Mortal Instruments series by Cassandra Clare, which is one of my by far one of my favourite series ever. It centers around a girl named Clary Fray who after her mother disappears, is thrust into a world of angels and demons, a world she has had a foot in her whole life. This series consists of six books, plus a connecting trilogy called The Infernal Devices, and another one called The Darker Artifices which is AMAZING by the way. These books are full of romance, action, and adventure, and I can just see myself sitting in the sun on my porch and cracking them open for the millionth time.

Heroes of Olympus series by Rick Riordan

Another favourite series of mine is the Heroes of Olympus series, which is a companion to the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series which follows kids who are part of a world where Greek myths and legends are true. These books have had my heart since I was ten years old, and it is so much fun to get whisked away to this magical world of Greek mythology and hilarious characters like Percy…it will make you want to hide away for an entire week until you are done and that is all you can ask for from a series.

Lola and the Boy Next Door by Stephanie Perkins

And of course I have to have more contemporaries in my list of favourite summer reads because that is a given, and this has been a favourite of mine for a few years now. Not only does the orangey-yellow cover give me summer vibes, the entire romance and story just gives me those warm, summer vibes as well. Lola and the Boy Next Door follows a girl named Lola Nolan who swore never to wear the same thing twice. Her wardrobe is crazy and wild, always something new, but always very her. At the moment her life is perfect…she has a great boyfriend, an awesome best friend, and is heading into her senior year of high school. However, all it is turned upside down when her first love moves back in next door, and suddenly old feelings rise to the surface. When I look at it I just want to grab an iced coffee, sit outside in the summer sun, and give it another well-deserved read.

Those are some of my favourite summer reads, and I hope you enjoyed! I will be back tomorrow with a brand new blog challenge so get excited, as well as for my updates where I give you a quick summary on what I actually read everyday. As I am writing this, my eyes are sore and my head aches and it isn’t even the Biannual Biblithon yet! So if my updates are, and have been a little lazy, it is because balancing Camp NaNoWriMo, blogging, and doing a readathon is hard…but sooo worth it. Anyways, happy reading!
