Lately I’ve been feeling some writer’s block coming on. I think it might be because I am at a point in my NaNoWriMo planning that takes a little more thought than everything else I’ve planned out. Since this is happening, I went over all the things that motivate me to continue writing and I decided to share them with you so here you go!
Re Reading Your Writing – I find this always helps me overcome writer’s block and it is because it reminds me how much I love to write. Re reading old stories that you’ve written just shows you a time in your life where you wrote and loved it! I am sure just like me, all of you have dozens of short stories or unfinished drafts that you can re read and use to help you get into the writing mode.
Journal Writing – Sometimes you just need to write to actually get through writer’s block. I try and write in a journal at least twice a week and I find that it really does help to just write and get everything off your chest that you’ve been carrying from that week. Some things to write about in a journal or just on a piece of paper when going through writer’s block are why you don’t want to write, when it started, and just how you are feeling about writing that day.
Walk or Run – I like to run because it helps clear my head but walking does the same. If you are feeling stuck on something, it doesn’t even have to be writing related, just go outside and walk. Listen to music, a podcast or just listen to what’s around you. Going outside will just revamp your thoughts and make it easier for you to think.
Those are 3 ideas to help overcome writer’s block and I hope at least 1 of them will help! Don’t forget to check out my last post: NaNoWriMo Prep #2 and I will see you in my next post π
