Camp NaNoWrimo: Brainstorming

So I think I am going to do a “Camp Ncamp_nano_logoaNoWriMo” series of blog posts until the end of it just so you guys can follow me on my journey! Here is the first part 🙂

I started brainstorming my novel idea at the beginning of the June and I have a pretty concrete idea that I am going off of. The way I brainstorm and put my story together so that it is easier for me to write down is I write a few paragraphs of the main idea and some key events, then I list the characters and describe their physical description, background, personality, etc and then I move onto planning out my scenes. I recently started listing the key events for the beginning, middle and end and I feel like that helps a lot because you know what you need to add in because they are the major plot points of your novel. My next step for brainstorming, which I am at, is writing down a loose outline of each scene of my book. This just helps me know what is going to happen at almost every moment.

My goal by the end of July is 50k words but after that I will keep writing and my overall goal is 150k. Hopefully by the end of the summer or by the beginning of October I will achieve that and have a rough draft of my novel. I will most likely take a month break and then start rewriting and editing it and then it will practically be NaNoWriMo which I will be participating in as well in November!

That was my first blog post to my Camp NaNoWriMo series and I hope you liked it! Don’t forget to comment if you are doing Camp NaNoWriMo and what genre you novel is. Mine is sci-fi and I am really excited!

  1. Hello,

Love reading on other people’s planning and experiences with Nanowrimo and CampNano. Hit the follow button. Totally love the idea of writing a blog entry throughout your journey. Very fun. Great way to allow people to virtually take the journey with you.

I participated in camp back in April. I won!!! Yay me! I can’t wait until July gets here because I will be participating again. My genre for this coming camp will be LGBT Paranormal Romance. I know that might squick some people. If it does, I meant no offense! 🙂

I have always made plans to write at least one a day for Nano in the past but have sadly fallen short of that goal. Maybe this July I can do that as well.

Well, HAPPY WRITING and have a great day!
    Jeremy

  2. Good luck to you with Camp NaNoWriMo! I’m going to be writing another fantasy genre novel, but this time it’s a LGBT+ based story and it’s set in a war of fantasy between humans/orcs and Necromancers! I’ve been planning quite a bit and will do so before July!

    Best of luck to you!
