Standing Ovation Book Recommendations!

So I decided to recommend the best of the best of books because we all want to read books that won’t let us down! Here are some books that I find are absolutely amazing if you haven’t read them you need to right now!

Lady Midnight by Cassandra Clare is an amazing first book to her new series The Dark Artifices. PLEASE READ: You absolutely MUST read the rest of her Shadowhunter novels (The Mortal Instruments and The Infernal Devices) otherwise you will not know at all what is going on…but this book is just so fantastic and so far it is my favourite book of the year!

Obsidian by Jennifer L Armentrout is another amazing first book to her series, The Lux series. It is such a quick and easy read and it grips you until the end!

Throne of Glass by Sarah J Maas is a fantastic book with such rich, interesting writing! If you are in the mood for high fantasy you must pick this up.

The Lost Hero by Rick Riordan is the spin-off series of Percy Jackson which is one my favourite series ever. Obviously you must read the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series before diving into these books but it is so worth it. The first series is definitely directed to more middle grade readers but I enjoy it just as much. In my opinion, the Heroes of Olympus series is more mature and easier for older readers to read.

Those are a few of my recommendations and I tried to switch it up a bit and not keep recommending the same books over and over so there you go!

Reading Update!

I haven’t been on lately because I have been trying to finish the book I am reading before Friday, and I have. I was reading Carry On by Rainbow Rowell and even though I had about 200 pages left, I still finished it last night…at midnight. It was a really, really good book and I see how people compare it to Harry Potter because in Carry On, the characters are like the Harry Potter characters but if they were more like teenagers. Anyways, I really enjoyed it and I am glad I picked it up! Since I finished it early, I will probably just re read some of Lola and the Boy Next Door by Stephanie Perkins and then on the plane start Opposition by Jennifer L Armentrout, and finally, read Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children!

Well that’s all for today, bye!

Books I Want to Read!

I was thinking earlier about all the books I haven’t had a chance to pick up yet but really would like to read so I decided to share them in a blog post!

Queen of the Tearling by Erika Johanson is a book that I have heard a lot of great things about. Another reason I want to read it is because the movie is coming out sometime soon and Emma Watson, I am pretty sure, is starring in it so it will be amazing!

Falling Kingdoms by Morgan Rhode is a very hyped up book at the moment and I really want to buy it sometime soon! The only thing I am hesitant about is that it is high fantasy and I do love fantasy but sometimes it is hard for me to get into high fantasy…

Queen of Shadows by Sarah J Maas is the fourth book in the Throne of Glass series and I need to know what happens in this book but sadly I am broke…#lifeofareader. In my opinion, I think the first book was the best and I don’t know why I love it so much when everyone else loves Heir of Fire. I guess I’m different…I’m divergent and you can’t control me.

Curse of the Sphinx by Raye Wagner (sorry if that names is spelt wrong…) I have really wanted to read this book after seeing it was advertised on booktube because it is about Greek mythology and I loooove Greek mythology so much.

Opposition by Jennifer L Armentrout is the fifth and final book in the Lux series which I have recently read and loved. I have been searching for the last book but every single time I go to the book store or the library the book seems to be gone! But luckily, I will be getting the eBook on my tablet this week for when I go travelling so this should be off the list soon.

Comment below some book recommendations because I would love to check them out!

Lady Midnight Review!

I have recently finished Lady Midnight by Cassandra Clare and it was absolutely amazing, just as I thought it would, and now I will be discussing it in a review with you guys! Don’t worry if you have not read the book yet because this is a SPOILER FREE review but I would highly recommend picking the book up! Make sure you read her first two series before though because then you would get very confused…

Okay, so the main plot line of this book is that Emma Carstairs, a young Shadowhunter, is trying to figure out who murdered her parents 5 years ago. Everyone has told her it was Sebastian, who was the villain in Cassandra Clare’s previous books, but Emma has never believed that. We follow her journey along with her Parabatai, which is similar to a best friend, Julian Blackthorn and his family as they search for the murderer but it turns out to be a lot bigger than they thought.

One thing I really liked about this book is that we didn’t go through a lot of world building which usually slows some books down. The reason for that is because you need to read the previous series before this, and those books have all the world building done in it, we know all about Shadowhunters who are half human, half angel and fight demons. We know about the Clave who is the government of the Shadowhunters and just everything we need that is covered in this book.

Another thing I liked, no loved, was the characters and relationships. I pretty much loved every single character in this book, except for a certain handful…They were so relatable and you saw them as real people who had real problems. Ugh, the relationships though were heart breaking and cry worthy. Instead of a love triangle we have a jumbled up love octagon. Not only were the romantic relationships amazing but just the bonding over the cast of characters was so heart warming to read about.

I would highly recommend this book because it is such an fascinating read that I flew through and it will take you on a rollercoaster of emotions…sadness, happiness, betrayal, shock…almost every emotion possible but it is definitely worth it!!! That is all for my non spoilery review and I hope you liked it!

Things that Annoy Readers

There are some things that people say or do that annoys readers and I am going to discuss those certain things with you. If you can relate to any one of these you are not alone…trust me.

When you get looked at like you’re crazy – I hate when this happens. I will be sitting down, reading my book and there is always that one person who just stares at me as if reading a book is the strangest thing you could do. It’s not by the way, I have seen much stranger things.

When “cool” people read its “cool” – I absolutely hate when this happens. A “popular” person in your class will start reading a book like Harry Potter and then suddenly being nerdy is “cool” and suddenly the whole class is reading Harry Potter for like half of a day. I think reading is cool, every other reader thinks its cool but these people do not unless one of their own starts reading.

When people say “reading is so stupid.” – Okay look…reading is not stupid, you are. I despise people who say this because even if you feel that way about reading you don’t need to tell that to someone who loves reading! It’s like going up to some person and saying you hate their shirt or shoes…its not cool.

When people say “I don’t read.” – This one annoys me so much. Ummm yes you do read, you just don’t try. I believe that everyone has a book out there that they love above all books, and when you find that one book it motivates you to read others. But most people either don’t look for that book or just don’t continue on reading…

That is all for this blog post and I relate so much to all of this and I think all of you readers will as well!

Books I Own but Haven’t Read

Here is a list of all the books I own but just haven’t read, not because they are boring but because I keep putting them off for new books I get but I think we all have that problem.

Saint Anything by Sarah Dessen. I am not entirely sure what this is about but I know it is some sort of contemporary book. I will get to this eventually but it is not on the top of my list to read at the moment so I am not sure when that will be.

Carry On by Rainbow Rowell. I am currently reading this book and loving it so it will be off this list pretty soon! Highly recommend it if you love Harry Potter.

The Heart of Betrayal by Mary E Pearson. This is the second book in the Kiss of Deception series and while I really enjoyed the first book, this book just started off with a slow start and I wasn’t able to get into it. Hopefully if I pick it up again, read more and be able to get into the book.

Glass Sword by Victoria Aveyard. I just recently bought this book and I am planning on reading it sometime in April. I heard it is a bit slower compared to the first book which I enjoyed but I am only hoping that I will like this book just as much.

Four by Veronica Roth. I started this book (or is it a novella?) two years ago and I just found Four’s point of view very boring but maybe if it I try reading it now it will be more appealing, fingers crossed.

Bane Chronicles by Cassandra Clare. This is the only Cassandra Clare book I have not completed but only because I got distracted with her Infernal Devices trilogy and never got around to finishing this book but I will read it!

New Moon, Eclipse, and Breaking Dawn by Stephanie Meyer. I have only read Twilight it the series and it was okay but I never had any motivation to continue on with the series but I think eventually I will finish it just because it is so popular.

Vampire Academy by Rachelle Mead. My cousin recommended this series to me and it is loved by a lot of people so I thought I would give the series a shot! I haven’t gotten around to it yet but I will soon. I don’t read much vampire based books so this should be good!

The Assassin’s Blade by Sarah J Maas. This is a novella to Sarah J Maas’s Throne of Glass series which is amazing. I have heard this novella is really good so I am planning on reading it before  I pick up her newest book, Queen of Shadows.

A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J Maas. When I picked this book up, I just wasn’t in the mood for high fantasy so when I attempted to read it I just wasn’t in the right mood so I never finished it. Again, I hope to get to this soon since the next book in this series is coming out very soon.

Graceling by Kristin Cashore. I just have heard great things about this book and I saw it for a very cheap price so I thought why not? Sadly, I haven’t been able to pick it up because of all the other books I have to read…

Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs. I have heard so much about this series and it makes me extremely excited to read it! This book is very different from what I usually read so it will be a great way to get a look at other ‘types’ of YA books. I am planning on reading this over my Spring Break which is in the next 2 weeks!

The Darkest Minds by Alexandra Bracken. I bought this book on my tablet because it was only $2 but I haven’t tried reading it yet. I don’t know when I am going to read this book but hopefully soon and I really would like to love it!

Passengers by Alexandra Bracken. Okay, so everyone seems to love this book but I am halfway through and I am very bored…I put this book down a month ago after trying to read it but I just can’t get into it but I am determined to finish it!

So those are all the books on my shelf that I have not read and it actually isn’t a whole lot considering I have just over 100 books! Anyway I hope you enjoyed reading this and comment below some books you own but haven’t read yet either!

PS: A Lady Midnight book review will be coming soon!

Lady Midnight!

If any of you didn’t know, a new book called Lady Midnight is released today and honestly, it is one of my top releases for all of 2016. Lady Midnight is by Cassandra Clare who is the author of the Mortal Instruments series and the Infernal Devices trilogy which are fantastic and Lady Midnight is the first book in a new trilogy by her that I have been waiting for, for over 2 years! So far, I have heard great things about it and I know I will love it just because it is by Cassandra Clare who is an auto buy author for me!

That is all for this blog post, I thought I would just type up another book update because I am so pumped for this book! Comment below if you will be reading this sometime soon.

Reading Update

It’s already a week into March and I am still finishing up City of Bones by Cassandra Clare…I was hoping to be finished re reading it by now but looks like it will bring me right up to the release of Lady Midnight which is TOMORROW!!! I am so excited but sadly I am broke from my last trip to the bookstore and I will have to wait a bit before I can get the book which, ugh, just sucks! I will probably focus on finishing Passengers by Alexandra Bracken and start Carry On by Rainbow Rowell…

That is my little reading update and comment below if you are going to be reading Lady Midnight this month!

Books You Can’t Put Down

I decided to share with you guys some books that grip you from the beginning and don’t let you put them down until you have completed the book, because we all love those books.

City of Bones by Cassandra Clare…I just love this entire series and for some people they wouldn’t consider this an easy read but I just zip through this series as if it were just one book. It is also such a fun read with a fantastic cast of characters!

Obsidian by Jennifer L Armentrout…I read this book in a day because I could not put it down at all! I have come to realize all of Jennifer L Armentrout’s books are like that so just pick any one of them and you will be hooked!

Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell…Yes I know I mention this book a LOT but it is such a great read and you won’t want it to end when it does! It is extremely relatable being a fangirl and all.

An Ember in the Ashes by Sabah Tahir…This book is just outright amazing and I put it off for so long but when I finally read it I cannot believe how long I put it off for! It was so fantastic and I loved everything about it, it makes you crave for the next book!

Those are a few books that you will NOT be able to put down if you pick them up but they are so fantastic it is definitely worth it!
