Shadowhunters Update!

So a few more episodes have been shown of Shadowhunters and I am happy with two of them which makes me very excited for what is coming with this TV show!

Episodes 5 and 7 are my favourites so far! I won’t go into full detail but the acting was so much better and in episode 5 we saw more of Alec which I thought was great since Matthew is an awesome actor! I would have to say episode 7 is my favourite so far just because the actors were really good and also the episode just flowed nicely. It didn’t feel rushed and I liked what happened and how they handled it! I also laughed quite a bit and even though Jace’s lines are weird, I still found myself liking the TV version of him more than I did in the beginning.

That was just a mini update on my feelings of the show and I would love to hear your opinion if you watch Shadowhunters!

March Releases + TBR!!!

February is coming to an end which means it is time to share my most anticipated releases of March and what I plan on reading!

Okay, so the only book I am anticipating for March is Lady Midnight by Cassandra Clare!!! I love all things and everything about The Mortal Instruments so I will be buying this book as soon as possible!

Now for the TBR portion of my blog…

In March I plan on finishing up Passengers by Alexandra Bracken which is taking so long to finish…I’m just at a very slow part and I am pushing myself to finish it.

I am also planning on reading Clockwork Angel by Cassandra Clare because I started re-reading it when I was sick so I thought I would give the whole trilogy a re read.

And the last book I am hoping to get to is Lady Midnight! I am hoping to just fly through this book since I have been waiting for it for so long and I am expecting amazing things!

That was my short blog post for the day and since I am no longer sick and going away for a while I will be more active so yay!

Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell

(Non-spoiler review)

Fangirl is about a girl named Cath who is off to her first year of college with her twin sister, Wren. Before college they did everything together, they even shared a bedroom. But now that Wren sees some freedom she takes it, leaving Cath behind to fend for herself. The book follows Cath as she struggles to find her place and fit in, even though she doesn’t really want to try and fit in and make friends which doesn’t make it easier.

It has been over a year since I read this book for the first time and after re reading it I am happy to say I loved it just as much as the first time. Fangirl is such an easy, feel good book that you can’t help but love. Even if contemporary is not exactly your genre I can almost guarantee you will adore this book.

The characters in this book are so relatable and you find yourself really relating to at least one character in this book. The character feel so real and I always have to remind myself they are not real just because they are so 3D. They are not perfect but by the end of the book I love all of them equally. The main character, Cath is super shy but by the end of the book you can see some character development and while she didn’t change tremendously, you can’t help but feel happy for her in the end. Also her twin sister, Wren, she goes through some tough spots in the book and I am not exactly sure if she realizes her wrong doing but she does pick up her act.

I just love Rainbow Rowell’s writing style, it just flows really nicely and I find it pleasing to read which is why I have a good chunk of her books on my shelf. I just adore this book and you all need to pick it up!

So that was my short, no-spoiler review. I cannot really say much more without spoiling anything so I better just leave it how it is!

Sick Day Book Recommendations!

If you haven’t noticed I have been absent on my blog for the past 4 days because I have been really sick…which means my days have been consumed by Netflix and sleeping. Apart from just watching Netflix and sleeping I also like reading a book or two so here is a list of a few feel good/easy reads for when you are sick!

Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell! I love this book because it such a cute, easy read that I fly through. I think anybody who reads it would like and it is perfect for those lazy, sick days. Fangirl is about a girl named Cath who is going into her first year of college and it is about her trying to fit in and figure out where she belongs.

Eleanor and Park by Rainbow Rowell! Another cute and easy read that I love. The love story is heart warming and I can read it over and over…but I don’t want to over read it so I save it for ‘special’ occasions. It is about the two teenagers, Eleanor and Park and how they fall in love while battling their lives at home.

The Selection by Kiera Cass! The Selection is the first book in a trilogy that is about a girl named America who is entered in a selection to become the bride of Prince Maxon and the new Queen of Illea. This book is just such a fun read and yes some of the characters can be frustrating for some people it is still a great book.

Those are some of my recommendations and I hope you find yourself picking one of these up! Stay alert for a Fangirl non-spoiler review soon!

Mini Book Haul

Yesterday I went to the bookstore and bought some things I wanted so here is my first book haul!

The first thing I bought was Glass Sword by Victoria Aveyard which is the second book in the Red Queen series. Red Queen is about a girl name Mare who lives in a society that is divided by the colour of their blood, red or silver. Reds are the poorer people and silver are the wealthy and can even have control over a certain element. I won’t say much more in case you haven’t read it but I would recommend it! I hope Glass Sword is great and I cannot wait to dive into it.

The last thing I bought was the Harry Potter colouring book because it was only $13. I am not a HUGE colouring fan but I will definitely colour anything Harry Potter related.

So that was my mini book haul and I hope you liked it!

Popular Books I Still Haven’t Read

All of us have those books we have never read that everyone else has and today I decided to share with you the ones I haven’t gotten to yet.

The Twilight Series by Stephanie Meyer…I read the first book in the summer but it never wowed me so I didn’t move onto the next books but I have all the books so I will try and finish the series.

Passengers by Alexandra Bracken…I am currently reading this now after putting it down last month because nothing exciting happened. I know the exciting part happens towards the end but that is like another 150 pages and I just wish it wasn’t so slow but I will finish it, I promise and then I will write a review on it.

Dorothy Must Die series by Danielle Paige…Okay so I read the first book and at first I enjoyed it but then I lost interest. It wasn’t because nothing exciting happened but because I didn’t connect with the characters at all and it just wasn’t my type of book. The CW is currently deciding whether or not to make it a TV series and I will definitely give it a shot because I think it would make a good show.

The Death Cure by James Dashner…Again I read the first and second book and I really liked the first book. I thought it was a great idea but then I read the second book and all they seemed to do was walk through the desert and that bore me. I feel like Dashner kind of didn’t try as hard with the second book which drove me to not wanting to read the last book but I got spoiled anyway…cry.

Those are some of the popular books I have not read and comment down below the ones you haven’t read!

My Book Buying List!

I have so many books I want and NEED to buy so here is my list!

Glass Sword by Victoria Aveyard. I really enjoyed Red Queen so I cannot wait to get my hands on this book! Yes it wasn’t all that original but it was really a great, easy read and that plot twist….

Fallen Kingdoms by Morgan Rhode is another book I need to get because it sounds like such a great fantasy book and I have heard so many great things!

Truthwitch by Susan Dennard is another fantasy book I would love to read. The concept is so unique and fantastic that I want to read about it.

Oppositon by Jennifer L Armentrout is the final book in the Lux series which is one of my new favourite series and after finishing Origin last night I NEED to read the last book and finds out what happens like now.

Stars Above by Marissa Meyer is a bunch of short stories that take place after the Lunar Chronicles which by the way is an amazing series so go read it. After reading Winter, the last book in the series, I am really excited to see how the characters are after the war and everything.

Shadowhunter Academy by Cassandra Clare and a few other authors is about Simon after he becomes a Shadowhunter and I am pretty sure you can tell he goes to Shadowhunter Academy. This isn’t exactly a book series because it is a whole bunch of novellas but I heard they get really great and besides, I would like to see the characters again and Simon is just a great, funny character.

Okay! So that is all for today and I will be back with another post tomorrow 🙂

New February TBR!!!

I change my mind a lot and yesterday I scanned my bookshelf and realized there are a few books I haven’t read in sooo long so I decided to swap them out with some of the books originally in my TBR.

Origin by Jennifer L Armentrout was originally on my TBR and I will still be reading that because I am almost done and it is really good at the moment so I am so excited to finish it! 100 pages left!

After Origin, I am planning on finishing Passengers by Alexandra Bracken because I never finished it and I am halfway done and I would like to complete it before I forget what happened in the first 200 pages!

The last book I am planning on reading in February is Clockwork Angel by Cassandra Clare considering Lady Midnight is coming out in less than a month! Also the Infernal Devices trilogy is just so amazing and I haven’t read it in a while.

FUN FACT: Did you know Cassandra Clare is not Cassandra Clare’s real name?! Her real name is Judith Rumelt and Cassandra Clare is her pen name.

Hope you enjoy this TBR update and I hope that FUN FACT blew your mind because I know my whole world has changed. Happy Valentine’s Day!

Coffee Book Tag

Hey! So I know this tag is usually done on a booktube channel but since I don’t have one I decided to do it on my blog! Here is to the coffee lovers…

  1. Black – Name a series that was hard to get into but has hardcore fans.

For this one I choose The Maze Runner by James Dashner because it was really hard to get into the books for me and the series definitely has hardcore fans.

2. Peppermint mocha – Name a book that gets more popular during the winter or a festive time of year.

For this one I choose Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling because it feels like a christmasy book and everybody always seems to read it during the holidays!

3. Hot chocolate – What is your favourite children’s book?

I read some great children’s books but the ones that stick in my mind the most are the Geronimo Stilton books and the Magic Treehouse series. I just loved those books and they got me into reading.

4. Double shot of expresso – Name a book that kept you on the edge of your seat from start to finish.

This one is so easy. I would have to say The Mortal Instruments series by Cassandra Clare because I picked up the series two years ago and read them in a week because I just loved them so much. I was definitely always on the edge of my seat while reading them.

5. Starbucks – Name a book you see everywhere.

The book I have been seeing everywhere for the past couple months is Queen of Shadows by Sarah J Maas. I think maybe it is because I haven’t picked it up yet because I don’t have enough money but I am DYING to know what happens next after I read Heir of Fire a few months ago.

6. The Hipster coffee shop – Give a book by an Indie author a shoutout.

I am pretty sure Me, Earl and the Dying Girl is an indie book so I am going to give that book a shoutout and it is by Jesse Andrew.

7.Oops! I accidently got decaf – Name a book you were expecting more from.

This question is so so easy to answer and the answer is the Infinite Sea by Rick Yancy. I adore the 5th wave and I was extremely excited to read the next book but it did not reach my expectations and really let me down.

8. The perfect blend – Name a book or series that was both bitter and sweet but ultimately satisfying.

I am going to have to say the Lux series by Jennifer L Armentrout because it was definitely bitter and sweet but overall it is one of my favourite series and nothing can really change that.

Okay so that was fun! I will probably start doing more tags on my blog just because I really enjoy them 🙂 P.S. I don’t know who the original author of this tag is but creds to them!

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child

Yes! It was announced that the play “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child” is going to become a book! Making Harry Potter an eight book series which is so, so exciting! It should be released this summer on July 31 so only a few months away and I am so pumped for it. I will leave below the synopsis and this book is literally what I have been waiting for.

At the end of the Deathly Hallows we read about Harry waving off two of his children as they board the Hogwarts Express, James Sirius and Albus Severus. (I know maybe some of the worst names to be honest…) Well, in the Cursed Child, we follow Harry’s life after that moment happens. He has an over working job along with 3 kids and a son who has a legacy that he doesn’t want…how could you live up to Harry Potter?!

Anyway I am super excited for this and you all should be too!!!
